Amazon is now throwing its hand into the ring with Netflix and Hulu for your video streaming service. As most people who use Amazon know, you can use the Prime service as a means for saving money on shipping of products you ship and can watch certain movies and TV shows for free.

Amazon launched Prime Video in 2011 and was only available through the Prime network with the yearly $99 subscription. Now that Amazon Prime Video service has taken off and won a couple Emmy's, the subscription service is launched. You can pay $8.99 per month after a 30-day free trial. You can also join Prime separately for $10.99 per month.

Prime Video is following a similar format to their competitors showcasing their original programs including The Man in the High Castle, Mozart in the Jungle and Transparent. There is also news of a TV series by Woody Allen. In addition to their programs, you can now add channels to Prime Starz and Showtime.

As someone who has tested all three of these services for various reasons, the cost is actually less expensive than using a full cable package and each offers its own elements. You just need to decide what you want as part of your package and what you're willing to pay.
