Most of us are very familiar with Uber. Back in 2013, Michael Pelletz and his wife were hit with some extraordinary changes in their lives and Michael became a driver for the company as a means to make additional money which ultimately led to a full-time position with the company. His wife also wanted to become a driver yet she felt it wasn't as safe for her to be doing it. Fast forward to 2015 when Michael was in a potentially dangerous situation himself. After some discussion he and his wife, Kelly, came up with Chariot for Women.

On April 19 this new service will become available. According to their site, Chariot for Women would use the safest practices to give the most secure and fun rideshare experience in the industry, driven by women, for women. Like Uber and Lyft, the rideshare uses an app for requesting a ride. Because it is built on safety, when the passenger requests a ride a safe word pops up on both the driver's and passenger's phone. If the safe word is incorrect, you can simply back away and find your correct vehicle.

The team has also taken it a step further by giving back to the community. Each month a list of 10 local and national charities will be selected to receive 2% of every fare. As the customer, you will select the charity which are women-based.
