After “springing ahead” last weekend to Daylight Savings Time, this Sunday we’ll be “springing into Spring!” Although you wouldn’t know it by the temps!!

Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show wraps-up this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.) and Sunday (10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) at Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.) in the Streeterville neighborhood. This year’s theme is “Chicago Is” featuring upwards of 20 spectacular gardens created by major Midwest designers interpreting this theme along with other events such as daily seminars, gardening gourmet (chef demos), a home and garden marketplace, cake decorating, an expanded kids’ activity garden, a new varieties exhibit, potting parties, competitions and much more! This show will definitely inspire, educate and motivate all the gardeners out there!!

Macy’s Flower Show® kicks-off spring with its annual bursts and blooms for the spirit of the season this Sunday (through April 3rd) at Macy’s (111 N. State St.) in The Loop. This year’s theme is “America The Beautiful” featuring America’s vast and varied landscapes and the flora indigenous to each!

Spring also is the season for Easter, which is next Sunday; however, the Belmont Avenue Bunny Hop will take place this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) on Belmont Avenue from Ravenswood to Western Avenues in the Roscoe Village neighborhood. Explore the fun at 17 stops along the way with treats and activities from Easter face painting to colorful holiday crafts to making your own chocolate Easter flower and more! So get your FREE Easter Bag and begin your “Hop” by collecting raffle tickets from each “Hop & Stop” for a chance to win prizes and gift certificates from local businesses with a Grand Prize valued at more than $650!!

This weekend also hosts two other major events in the Chicagoland area:

The largest pop culture convention in the Midwest, the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo is being held at McCormick Place (2301 S. Lake Shore Dr.) in the South Loop this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.) and Sunday (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) with top exhibitors covering comics, movies, television, toys, games, anime, manga and video games as well as talent from all different realms of the pop culture universe such as John Cusack, Greg Capullo, Melissa Benoist and others. Many special events are planned as well such as Fan Events, Nerd Nite Speed Dating, Family HQ, Panels & Screenings, C2E2 Live and C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay which is the world’s biggest and most prestigious costume contest with a $10,000 prize! WOW!!

An unbeatable, one-stop venue for pet products and services, the Chicagoland Family Pet Expo is being held at the Arlington International Racecourse (2200 W. Euclid Ave.) in Arlington Heights this Saturday (9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) and Sunday (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). This year’s expo will feature a wide range of product and service categories which include pet-themed artwork, jewelry, clothing, cleaning supplies, pet clothing, pet beds & furniture, food, treats, veterinary services, pet boarding and much more with over 200 exhibits. There will also be hands-on attractions and fun entertainment for the whole family with many pets to see and touch and perhaps even adopt one or several to bring home with you!!
