I sure do wish I was there right now, but I've been reading up on the latest gadgets and gizmos coming out of the 2016 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. If you want to get the most recent details, you can view interviews live from MWC at their streaming site.

This year's trends at MWC include new imaging (aka photography), phones/tablets and even smart shoes. Are you keeping up with your New Year's resolution to lose weight and get back into shape? The Iofit Smart Balance shoes are designed to assist you with your form. They have built-in pressure sensors which measure weight distribution in your stance. They can be especially helpful if you are looking to improve your golf swing or improve your gait as a jogger.

A couple of the smart phones that everyone is writing about include the Samsung Galaxy7, LG G5, Caterpillar CAT S60, and Sony Xperia X line. First of all, yes, Sony has been in the smart phone and table game for a while and are looking to make a comeback. Their Xperia X line is more affordable with their tradition design and adding the curved screen.  Samsung's Galaxy7 is more of an homage to several of the best features culled from the Galaxy5 (waterproof) and Galaxy6 (curved screen). The CAT S60 most notably has a built-in thermal camera. The CAT S60 is built with a more rugged design so it won't ever compete with the slimmer, sleeker phones available but it can handle drops, dirt and water. The LG G5 is a phone that allows you to replace the battery with modular accessories, which are a limited few at this point.

Both Samsung and LG have launched 360-degree cameras that are designed to be used with their latest release phones. The cameras and virtual reality devices are making additional strides to make it into the mainstream.

Here's looking forward to Day 2!
