TECHNOLOGY TIPS - CHRISTMAS IN JULY?

You may have heard the term Christmas in July, but did you know its history? It's actually a celebration found in the Southern Hemisphere. In countries like Australia, New Zealand and Argentina, the weather is typically cold and so Midwinter Christmas is celebrated to enjoy a winter feel to the holiday. Ironically, folks also celebrate the traditional Christmas holiday in December.

Today Amazon released a notification that the company is planning to celebrate its 20th anniversary with Prime Day on July 15. Prime Day is being advertised as "a one-day only event filled with more deals than Black Friday." In the US, we'll be able to take advantage of deals beginning at midnight and they will run every 10 minutes throughout the day.

For anyone who does not have an Amazon Prime account, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial. By acquiring your Prime membership, you'll be able to take advantage of the Lightning Deals, Deals of the Day and free shipping. In addition to the deals, your Prime membership offers you free movie and TV episode streaming, music, playlists, various music stations, unlimited photo storage in Amazon Cloud Drive and the ability to borrow more than 800,000 books through Kindle.

As an added bonus, Amazon is having their #PrimeLiving Photo Contest. As a member, take a photo that shows how much you love Prime. Share your photo between July 6 and July 15 on the contest page. The winner of the contest will receive a $10,000 Amazon Gift Card.
