Whether we like it or not, the Chicagoland area is gearing up for the Holiday shopping season with the following unique markets for those on your Holiday list who have “everything” or are unique themselves!  Let’s go shopping --

The Lycee Francais de Chicago is hosting their Fall French Market this Saturday (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) and Sunday (11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) at 550 W. Irving Park Road (corner of Lake Shore Drive and Irving Park Road) in the Buena Park neighborhood. This family-friendly, holiday shopping festival features French cooking demonstrations, festive food and drink, live music provided by some of the LFC students, shopping opportunities from nearly 100 vendors selling gourmet food, home décor, clothing, jewelry, art, bath & body products, as well as a children’s pavilion (2 hour limit) where kids 3-10 can enjoy activities such as crafts, a coloring contest, tattoos, face painting, free play and more while you shop in peace!  They’re also raffling off an array of items donated by the market vendors at $2 per ticket for your chance to win a gift rather than buy it!!

The Empty Bottle is hosting their monthly Handmade Market Chicago beginning this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1035 N. Western Avenue in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood.  This market features over 30 local vendors with their unique and handmade items such as funky, one-of-a-kind jewelry, clothing, scarves, handbags, knitted items, journals, greeting cards, crafts and more at affordable prices! So come on out and support your local crafters!!

The Grove is hosting their Arts and Crafts Faire this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1421 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Glenview, a suburb north of the city. This annual fair features more than 50 juried artists with their handmade wares such as personalized items, jewelry, distinctive gifts and home accessories, baked goods, gourmet foods, seasonal decorations, holiday crafts and much more! While you’re there, experience the charm of the holiday season by visiting Grannie’s Cottage, the Holiday House, the Snowflake Chalet, the Mistletoe Cabin, Santa’s Workshop and the Sugar Plum Café to feed your empty belly and rest those tired feet after all that shopping and walking!!

Let’s not forget the other members of our family this holiday season as this Saturday and Sunday (10:00 a.m.) brings you the 4th annual Chicago Pet Show to the Kane County Fairgrounds (525 S. Randall Road) in St. Charles, a suburb west of the city. This family-friendly event features over 150 pet-related product vendors, an opportunity to meet and greet local rescues available for adoption (what a great gift), obtain advice from published vets and dog trainers, pony rides and a petting zoo for the kids as well as a magic show, a reptile show and a whole lot more!!

And finally, the Belmont Home Décor will be hosting their Home Décor Factory Warehouse Sale this Saturday through November 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 4201 W. Belmont Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood.
