Whether we like it or not, it’s time to say goodbye to summer.  However, here in Chicago we find ways to celebrate any season that arrives on our doorstep with this weekend being no exception.  Yep, you’ve got it – Chicagoans Welcome Fall and Its Newbies!

It is with great pleasure to now introduce you to the 2013 newbies –

The Lakeview Taco Fest kicks off the autumn season with its inaugural festival at Newport and Southport Avenues in the Lakeview neighborhood this Saturday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.) featuring a variety of tacos from local vendors such as Café El Tapatio, Café Tola, Taco Joint and others along with various Sam Adams beers on tap for that special beer and taco pairing!  This festival also features live music from the Wedding Band, the Freddy Jones Band and more.  And, don’t forget to bring your cell phone so you can text your vote for Chicago’s “Best Taco!”

The Logan Square Beer Fest kicks off the fall season with its inaugural festival at the Logan Square Auditorium (2539 N. Kedzie Avenue) in the Logan Square neighborhood this Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This one-day event will boast 40 seasonal and rare beers from 20 different breweries all around the country such as Emmett’s, Lakefront, Two Brothers and Wild Onion.  Each brewery is asked to bring along one “standard” beer and one “special” beer that you can only get at this event for the ultimate real craft beer lovers’ experience!  This festival also features food vendors, live music and raffles!!

The City Made Fest kicks off the fall season with its inaugural festival along Clark Street between Argyle Street and Carmen Avenue (5000N to 5100N) in the Andersonville neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to celebrate all things made in Chicago. That includes Chicago live music, Chicago craft beers, Chicago artisans and more!  So come on out and support Chicago’s own creators!!

And now, time for some of the oldies but goodies –

The 6th annual Rib-A-Que Smoke Out returns to the Moonshine Brewing Company (1824 W. Division Street) in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for its annual competition between professional barbecue chefs which include Oak Porkers, Top Shelf BBQ, Sweet Ginny’s, Smokin Hops and others.  It’s an afternoon full of food, spirits and music!

Watson Adventures returns to Chicago with its Munch Around Lincoln Park Scavenger Hunt, for adults-only, and will start off at Lincoln Park (2045 N. Lincoln Park West) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood this Saturday at 12:00 p.m. offering a 90-minute or a two-hour hunt taking you through this eclectic, and sometimes eccentric, neighborhood all while treating your taste buds to a great adventure!  Please note that each team must bring a digital camera documenting your munching adventures!!

The Norwood Park Fall Fest returns to the Norwood Park Train Station/Centennial Park (6088 N. Northwest Highway) in the Norwood Park neighborhood this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. celebrating the onset of fall.  This annual, family-friendly festival features food, a beer garden, craft beers, an arts & crafts area, Irish dancers, balloon artists, jumpies, face painting, Jim Nesci’s Cold Water Creatures Show featuring alligators and snakes, live music and much, much more!
