THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - CHICAGOANS FEASTING AT FESTS STILL ON THE MENU!
Labor Day is behind us, autumn is ahead, but this weekend Chicagoans will be feasting at fests still on the summer menu!

Celebrate German culture this Saturday and Sunday at this year's annual German American Fest being held at 4700 N. Lincoln Avenue (Lincoln and Leland Avenues) in the Lincoln Square neighborhood.  Of course, it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, this fest features "traditional" German foods, wine and beer, live German music for your dancing and singing pleasures along with traditional cultural programs and other attractions for your enjoyment.  And, don't forget the Von Steuben Parade at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday starting at 4000 N. Lincoln Avenue to Wilson Avenue, then north on Western Avenue and ending back at the Festival area so you and your family and friends can continue celebrating!

This year's Guinness Oyster Fest once again kicks off the unofficial start of autumn, in summer of course, at 2000 W. Roscoe Street (Damen Avenue and Roscoe Street) in the Roscoe Village neighborhood this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  This fest features tents housing fresh oysters and seafood along with other culinary delights from local restaurants, live music on two stages, and arts & crafts booths for this end-of-season street party!

The Windy City Wine Festival takes place this Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buckingham Fountain (500 S. Columbus Drive) in the South Loop with a celebration of wine, food and music.  Here's your chance to sample over 345 wines from around the world as well as sample signature dishes from a variety of Chicago restaurants such as Adobo Grill, Empanadus Restaurant and others.  This fest also features cooking demonstrations and live music.  Designated Driver tickets are available as well which includes two non-alcoholic drinks and a souvenir wine glass upon departure!  Empty of course!!

Back for its 11th year, the Renegade Craft Fair sets up shop at 2000 W. Division Street (Damen Avenue and Division Street) in the Wicker Park neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Browse work from over 300 indie crafters from across the U.S. who will be selling handmade wares from clothing to jewelry to bath products and much more.  This year you'll also find a vintage pop up market by The Vintage Bazaar along with entertainment/music, food by Antique Taco, Chicago's Doghouse, MANA and others as well as a photo booth by Magnolia Photo Booth Co. and much more!

Get a flavor of Ukrainian arts and culture at the 11th annual Ukrainian Village Fest located at Saints Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Church (739 N. Oakley Boulevard at the corner of Oakley Boulevard & Superior Street) in the historic Ukrainian Village neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  This European-style, neighborhood festival features live music, costumed folk dancers, a beer garden (domestic and imported), ethnic arts & crafts, traditional and continental fare, games, kids' activities in a special area and raffle prizes with a Grand Lottery 1st prize of $2,500 cash!!

The 24th annual Festival de La Villita returns this Saturday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.) to 26th Street and Kostner Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood in celebration of Mexico's independence from Spain and South-of-the Border culture.  This fest features over 100 vendors, which include neighborhood restaurants serving up authentic Mexican cuisine, as well as live music, artisans, entertainment for kids, carnival rides and appearances by TV and radio personalities.  Sunday at Noon the Mexican Independence Day Parade is set to kick-off at Albany Avenue and 26th Street and culminating at the festival.  Did I mention this is all FREE!

Finally, this weekend's 2013 Chicago Movies in the Parks series features the following movie on Saturday, at dusk, weather permitting:  "Take the Lead" - Tuley Park (501 E. 90th Pl.) - Chesterfield.

Will You Be Feasting At The Fests?
