TECHNOLOGY TIPS – REALTOR.COM IS GETTING AN UPLIFT

You've probably searched for a home online before on either Zillow or Trulia.  The thing to remember is that there is also Realtor.com. This site is associated with the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and currently showcases homes listed on your multiple listing service (MLS), the service used by Realtors.

Last month NAR and Move Inc. (the company that operates Realtor.com) discussed and approved an expansion to their existing service. The plan is to start listing new homes offered by homebuilders, rental properties and homes listed by multiple listings services not currently associated with NAR. Currently there are no plans to list for sale by owner properties, but the possibility still exists.

The ability to list for-rent properties not currently represented by a Realtor is anticipated to broaden the base of users. Move has additional plans to connect with homebuyers before and after the actual sale of a property.  Their first phase includes advice and news blogs on Realtor.com. The second phase is to expand consumer offerings with mortgages and home improvement. All these plans are set to be fully functional by 2014.
