THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - CHICAGOANS NOT QUITE IN FULL SWING YET!
We're not quie in full swing
yet with switching our gears for the Holidays around here in Chicago.
How lucky are we to have a quiet, restful weekend before we’re back to
non-stop activities?
Not
to fret though. If you feel the need to
get out and about, here’s a run down of what’s going on this weekend –
Chicago’s Perfect 10 returns for a second
year to Navy Pier (600 E. Grand
Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. This event features a 10K run, a 10-mile run
and a Bubba Gump’s kids’ fun run that is perfect for city dwellers,
suburbanites and even out-of-towners because it offers all a unique experience
that starts at the #1 tourist and leisure destination in the Midwest and takes
runners along a picturesque lakefront path.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and a “Quality of Life” expo with
sports and health vendors will also be on hand!
Calling
all my holiday cooks! This Saturday at
12:00 p.m. a Holiday Cooking Demonstration
will be held at Carnivale (702 W. Fulton Market) in the
River West neighborhood. This class will
feature seasonal holiday dishes such as roasted squash soup, New Orleans style Tasso ham, bread pudding
and chocolate truffles as demonstrated by Carnivale’s
Executive Chef David Dworshak! Fee is
$25 and reservations are required.
Calling
all my early holiday shoppers! This
Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. a Handmade Market
will be held at The Empty Bottle

the kids this weekend, there is --

ceremony to honor those who have proudly served and died for our nation will

eagles. Other featured activities

bear chat at the Great Bear Wilderness and others!
Finally,
I have saved the best and most important for last – the Warm Up & Bear Down Chili Cook-Off
being held at the Moonshine Brewing
Company (1824 W. Division Street) in the heart of the Wicker Park
neighborhood on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Prior to the show-down between the Chicago
Bears and the Houston Texans, Moonshine’s parking
lot will be transformed into the biggest tailgating party outside Soldier Field
with a chili cook-off featuring up to 16 pro and amateur cooks for the coveted
Gilded Ladle trophy and a bowl full of cash!
Afterwards, return inside for a 7:20 p.m. kickoff as the Bears take on
the Texans, or hop on the party buses to and from the game for those lucky ones
who have tickets!!
