The long awaited Lollapalooza may be the headliner for Chicago's weekend events, but if you don't have a ticket by now, you're out of luck!  This event has been sold out for some time now; however, there's always something going on in Chicago and this weekend is no different!!

Wrigleyville SummerFest kicks-off on Saturday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) and wraps-up on Sunday (12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.) at 3300 North Seminary Avenue between School and Roscoe Streets in the Wrigleyville/Lakeview neighborhood.  Now in its 10th year, this street fair not only features live music and plenty of tasty food and beverages but also many local vendors will be showcasing their products and services.  In addition, Wrigleyville SummerFest features a Kids Zone with interactive games and family-friendly activities throughout the day such as a giant 26' slide, a mini golf course, games, face painting and much more!  Don't forget to stop by the Chicago Parent booth for a great goodie bag, or join B96 on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a chance to win fun B96 prizes while playing the bags games and some trivia!!

The 8th annual Lincoln Square Garden Walk takes place Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. meeting up at Giddings Plaza (4731 N. Lincoln Avenue) in the Lincoln Square neighborhood.  This walk includes over 20 innovative gardens emphasizing city-size gardens that most owners have designed and take care of themselves in this burgeoning green neighborhood.  Not only does this walk feature gardens with creative solutions to greening these city-size yards, but others create a fabulous environment as a haven for wildlife and birds.  One garden is even an exotic test garden with one of everything.  This is your opportunity to explore this wonderful little hamlet in the city!

New to the city's street festivals this year is Edge Fest which kicks-off Saturday (12:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.) and wraps-up Sunday (12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.) at 5930 North Broadway Street at Broadway and Thorndale Avenue in the Edgewater neighborhood.  This fest is sure to entertain all your senses from your taste buds to your eyes, to your ears.  They've got it all, from the sweet smell of sizzling bacon from one of their many vendors to satisfy your taste buds, to the fantastic art from over 40 local artists for your viewing pleasure, with live entertainment from the Talking Heads tribute band This Must Be the Band and Too White Crew on two stages for your listening pleasure!

For your outdoor viewing pleasure this Saturday at 7:00 p.m., there is -

Movies in the Park:  Dolphin Tale - Touhy Park (7348 N. Paulina Street)

Located in the Rogers Park neighborhood between Clark and Paulina Streets, this park covers 6.35 acres with two softball fields, a football field, two tennis courts and two playgrounds.  A small fieldhouse allows children to participate in a number of activities as well.

Movies in the Park:  The Wizard of Oz - Rowan Park (11546 S. Avenue L)

Located in the Hegewisch neighborhood between 115th and 116th Streets, this park purchased in 1948 by the Chicago Park District remained unimproved for at least a decade until 1959 when improvements began.  Since then, the park district has installed athletic fields, a running track, a fieldhouse and quite recently a combination ice skating/roller skating rink.

And finally, we have the Dog Days & Pet Olympics taking place this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cantigny Park (1 S. 151 Winfield Road) in Wheaton, a western suburb of Chicago.  This is the one day in the year that families can enjoy Cantigny with their pooches!  Of course, all dogs must have current vaccination tags and be social with others.  This event features an off-leash dog play area, shows including the Windy City K-9 Disc Club and Super Dogz agility demos, animal rescues and shelters on-site for adoptions, a doggie craft for kids to take home with a $5 donation and 70 vendors.  The dog Olympics include a ball lottery, babe ruth baseball, a doggie dash, a hot dog dunk, doggie limbo, musical hoops and a peanut butter lick.  Don't disappoint your canine family member if you know what's good for you!!
