THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - ITS TIME FOR SOME HOLIDAY FUN!

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty tired of Holiday shopping already!  Besides, there's still two more weeks before Christmas so I say "its time for some Holiday fun!"

A tradition here in Chicago, now in its 16th year, is the TBOX: 12 Bars of Christmas Pub Crawl held at various locations throughout the city.  This annual crawl takes on a summer camp theme as you crawl to 36 Wrigleyville neighborhood bars.  Live music will be provided by Rock Candy during closing ceremonies at Cubby Bear and includes a t-shirt, gym bag and $3 Miller Lites.  Your TBOX festivities will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday!

Next up is Beer Carol held at Haymarket Pub & Brewery (737 W. Randolph Street) in the West Loop neighborhood on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.  A comedic, brew-themed, radio-style holiday play is debuted by neo-futurists Sean Benjamin and Steve Mosqueda.  You don't have much time left for this one as it ends next Saturday!

Perhaps A Klingon Christmas Carol is more to your liking.  Held at The Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N. Lincoln Avenue) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, this classic holiday fable about Ebenezer Scrooge and the meaning of Christmas takes on the Klingon language of "Star Trek" as Dickens meets Spock!  Saturday's show time is 7:30 p.m. and Sunday's is 2:30 p.m.

One of my holiday favorites is a comedy where a woman deals with her family's dysfunctions, and of course her own, while preparing for the holidays in this year's Fa La La La... F#@% It held at The Annoyance Theatre (4830 N. Broadway) in the Uptown neighborhood.  Can you relate?

Another holiday favorite of mine is Rudolph, the Red-Hosed Reindeer held at Mary's Attic (5400 N. Clark Street) in the Andersonville neighborhood.  Now in its 14th year, this play is a campy musical parody of the classic tale and features a cross-dressing reindeer!  Reserved seating, a cocktail and a cast recording of the show's music is included with a VIP purchase of $35.  Please note though that this Rudolph is not suitable for kids!!

You know, it's not easy being an elf.  Don't believe me?  Then see for yourself at The Santaland Diaries held at the Theater Wit (1229 W. Belmont Avenue) in the Lakeview neighborhood where Crumpet details his bizarre experiences and struggles to maintain his dignity as a Macy's Christmas elf!

How about catching a parody of Christmas traditions at this year's Second City's Dysfunctional Holiday Revue at The Second City (1616 N. Wells Street) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.  This is a perfect alternative to the more traditional holiday shows!

Did somebody say traditional?  Well then, there's -

A Christmas Carol at the Goodman Theatre (170 N. Dearborn Street) in the Loop, or

It's a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play at the American Theater Company (1909 W. Byron Street) in the North Center neighborhood which includes complimentary milk and cookies after the show.

Finally, Joe's Bar (940 W. Weed Street) in the Old Town neighborhood will be hosting the Kris Kringle Kandy Kane Ball on Saturday from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.  This 9th annual benefit for the "Chicago Children's Charities" includes appetizers, an open bar and DJs.  And don't forget to bring a toy to donate!

Are You Ready For Some Holiday Fun?  Then Get Going!!
