THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - CHICAGO GEARS UP FOR HOLIDAY SHOPPERS!
There's no time like the present to begin preparing for the Holidays, especially if you need to purchase the "hottest" items of the season.  However, there are other alternatives than the customary Department stores as "Chicago gears up for Holiday shoppers!"

The Merchandise Mart (222 Merchandise Mart Plaza) in the River North neighborhood is hosting the One of a Kind Show and Sale Chicago on Saturday and Sunday.  This 11th annual showcase is a great alternative to shop for holiday gifts from over 650 North American artists and designers who will be displaying items such as clothing, jewelry, furniture, photography, paintings, sculptures and more!

St. Gertrude's Church (1420 W. Granville Avenue) in the Edgewater neighborhood is hosting its Christmas Bazaar & Pancake Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.  This event features 44 craft tables with handmade, one-of-a-kind items and fair trade as well as used books, baked goods, holiday greenery, cash & kids raffle and much more!  There's also a kids' craft activities area to keep them busy while you shop.

The Irish American Heritage Center (4626 N. Knox Avenue) in the Irving Park/Avondale neighborhood is hosting its Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  This event features crafts, gifts and sweets from local artisans as well as a Holiday mass and a performance by the Irish Heritage Singers at 10:30 a.m.  A traditional Irish breakfast and an appearance by Santa will follow the mass!

The Lincoln Square Christkindl Market takes place at Leland and Western Avenues (4700 N. Western Avenue) in the Lincoln Square neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday.  This outdoor celebration, set-up as a small German village, features a Holiday market, live Christmas music, visits with Santa, German food, beer and hot drinks for sale, free trolley rides and more!

The Do-Division Holiday takes place at Division Street between Milwaukee Avenue and Leavitt Street (2000 W. Division Street) in the East Village/Ukrainian Village neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday.  This annual event features discounted merchandise with food and drink deals at restaurants, bars and shops as well as free horse-drawn carriage and trolley rides between the Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Sale!

The Pulaski Park Fieldhouse (1419 W. Blackhawk Street) in the West Town neighborhood is hosting the Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Sale this Saturday and Sunday.  This 6th annual indie bazaar includes gifts from over 150 artists displaying items such as handmade jewelry, ceramics, clothing, comics, posters and much more.  Crafting activities along with food and drink vendors round out this event!

For those who have completed their Holiday shopping, or prefer to wait until Christmas Eve, here's what Chicago has to offer you in keeping with the Holiday spirit -

The Winter Wonderfest at Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood runs from December 2nd through January 8th.  This event features rides, inflatable slides, ice skating, holiday décor and live entertainment.  Hundreds of trees decorated with thousands of ornaments add a festive look to this wonderfest!

The Santa Hustle 5K takes place Saturday (9:00 a.m.) at Montrose Harbor (600 W. Montrose Avenue) in the Uptown neighborhood.  Holiday decorations and Christmas music are featured at this 3rd annual winter run and walk, which includes a Santa hat, beard and shirt with your registration fee.  Afterwards, head on over to the Cubby Bear Wrigleyville or The Sports Center for a post-race buffet!

So, Will You Be A "Geared-Up Shopper" or a "Santa Hustler?"  Guess What I'll Be!
