THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - CHICAGO GEARS UP FOR HOLIDAY SHOPPERS!

There's
no time like the present to begin preparing for the Holidays, especially if you
need to purchase the "hottest" items of the season. However, there are other alternatives than
the customary Department stores as
"Chicago
gears up for Holiday shoppers!"
The
Merchandise Mart (222 Merchandise
Mart Plaza) in the River North neighborhood is hosting the One of a Kind Show and Sale
Chicago on Saturday and Sunday. This 11th annual showcase is a great
alternative to shop for holiday gifts from over 650 North American artists and
designers who will be displaying items such as clothing, jewelry, furniture,
photography, paintings, sculptures and more!
St. Gertrude's Church (1420 W. Granville Avenue) in the
Edgewater neighborhood is hosting its Christmas Bazaar & Pancake
Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. This event features 44 craft tables with
handmade, one-of-a-kind items and fair trade as well as used books, baked
goods, holiday greenery, cash & kids raffle and much more! There's also a kids' craft activities area to
keep them busy while you shop.
The
Irish American Heritage Center (4626
N. Knox Avenue) in the Irving Park/Avondale neighborhood is hosting its Christmas Bazaar and
Bake Sale on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event features crafts, gifts and sweets
from local artisans as well as a Holiday mass
and a performance by the Irish Heritage Singers at 10:30 a.m. A traditional Irish breakfast and an
appearance by Santa will follow the mass!
The
Lincoln Square
Christkindl Market takes place at Leland and Western
Avenues (4700 N. Western Avenue) in the Lincoln Square neighborhood this Saturday
and Sunday. This outdoor celebration,
set-up as a small German village, features a Holiday
market, live Christmas music, visits with Santa, German food, beer and hot
drinks for sale, free trolley rides and more!
The
Do-Division
Holiday takes place at Division Street between Milwaukee
Avenue and Leavitt Street (2000 W. Division Street) in the East
Village/Ukrainian Village neighborhood this Saturday and Sunday. This annual event features discounted
merchandise with food and drink deals at restaurants, bars and shops as well as
free horse-drawn carriage and trolley rides between the Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Sale!
The
Pulaski Park Fieldhouse (1419 W.
Blackhawk Street) in the West
Town neighborhood is
hosting the Renegade Craft Fair Holiday
Sale this Saturday and Sunday. This 6th annual indie bazaar
includes gifts from over 150 artists displaying items such as handmade jewelry,
ceramics, clothing, comics, posters and much more. Crafting activities along with food and drink
vendors round out this event!
For
those who have completed their Holiday shopping, or prefer to wait until
Christmas Eve, here's what Chicago has to offer you in keeping with the Holiday
spirit -
The
Winter
Wonderfest at Navy
Pier (600 E. Grand Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood runs from
December 2nd through January 8th. This event features rides, inflatable slides,
ice skating, holiday décor and live entertainment. Hundreds of trees decorated with thousands of
ornaments add a festive look to this wonderfest!
The
Santa Hustle 5K
takes place Saturday (9:00 a.m.) at Montrose Harbor
(600 W. Montrose Avenue)
in the Uptown neighborhood. Holiday decorations and Christmas music are featured at
this 3rd annual winter run and walk, which includes a Santa hat,
beard and shirt with your registration fee.
Afterwards, head on over to the Cubby
Bear Wrigleyville or The Sports
Center for a post-race buffet!
