The Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection (BACP) offers workshops every Wednesday and Friday. If you have been thinking about starting your own business, BACP offers a Business Start-Up Certificate Program.  This program will give owners, new and seasoned, the tools needed for starting and growing your own business.  All workshops are free and located at the City of Chicago BACP, City Hall, 121 N. GOLD COAST

Next Tuesday, Spiaggia's chef will be orchestrating the opening of his Italian respite off the Mag Mile, Bar Toma. Here's the lowdown. There's an espresso bar, mozzarella bar, pizza bar and bar bar.  The espresso bar sports ceramic cups designed by Pedro Almodóvar. The mozzarella bar has only four seats so get there early. The pizza bar showcases the Tuscan pizza furnace.  The bar is host to wine on tap, Italian beer and Illy Corretto.

Gordon Food Service broke ground Monday for a new GFS Marketplace store on Oakton Street in Evanston. Alderman Ann Rainey of the 8th Ward worked with Gordon's to resolve environmental issues on the site left by the previous owners of the property and to address requirements of the city's green building ordinance. The store is scheduled to open next summer.
