LAKEVIEW
Beginning this Friday through February 27, 2012, the Rink at
Wrigley will open. A full-size skating rink will once again find a home
in the Cubs parking lot at the corner of Clark and Waveland. You can purchase season passes for $60 or pay
for your ticket the day of your skating.
Skates are also available for rental should you need them. Parking is free and available at Clark Street
and Waveland Avenue.
NORWOOD PARK
MeterSave is a new program offered by
the City of Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) to non-metered Chicago
homeowners to voluntarily install meters to help them save water and save
money. By changing your services to the new program your new bills will not
cost any more than what you are currently paying.
LOOP
The Department
of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection (BACP) offers workshops
every Wednesday and Friday. If you have been thinking about starting your own
business, BACP offers a Business Start-Up Certificate Program. This program will give owners, new and
seasoned, the tools needed for starting and growing your own business. All workshops are free and located at the
City of Chicago BACP, City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St., Room 805.
GOLD COAST
Next Tuesday, Spiaggia's chef will be orchestrating the
opening of his Italian respite off the Mag Mile, Bar Toma. Here's the
lowdown. There's an espresso bar, mozzarella bar, pizza bar and bar bar. The espresso bar sports ceramic cups designed
by Pedro Almodóvar. The mozzarella bar has only four seats so get there early.
The pizza bar showcases the Tuscan pizza furnace. The bar is host to wine on tap, Italian beer
and Illy Corretto.
EVANSTON
Gordon
Food Service broke ground Monday for a new GFS Marketplace store on
Oakton Street in Evanston. Alderman Ann Rainey of the 8th Ward worked with
Gordon's to resolve environmental issues on the site left by the previous
owners of the property and to address requirements of the city's green building
ordinance. The store is scheduled to open next summer.
