TECHNOLOGY TIPS – IT’S COMING THIS WEEK, BLACK FRIDAY

Each year I go out with family members to do the shopping
for the holidays in the hopes of getting a great deal on holiday gifts.
Black Friday's name originated in
Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive
pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after
Thanksgiving. Use of the term started before 1966 and began to see broader
use outside Philadelphia around 1975. Later an alternative explanation began to
be offered: that "Black Friday" indicates the point at which
retailers begin to turn a profit, or are "in the black."
This year, many retailers have their sales starting earlier
on Thanksgiving evening or midnight on Friday.
When trying to find deals and "map a plan" one of the better sites to
find is Black Friday Info. This
site will give you the details as they are released by each store
participating. The site will also post Black Friday ad scans.
One thing I like to remind people is that even though you
may get a great deal on something, remember to be vigilant in whom you trust. Last year when in line a man in front of us
paid for his new TV. Then someone dressed in attire of workers offered to help
bring the box to his car and literally walked off with his purchase. Please be vigilant if you do plan to do some
shopping.
