CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS – LOOP, PORTAGE PARK, LAKEVIEW, GOLD COAST, NAPERVILLE
LOOP
Now in its third year, Winter WonderLoop assembles
unique holiday promotions and events from around the Loop for you to enjoy.
Enjoy more than 100 events and promotions from the area's hotels and
restaurants, retail destinations, cultural institutions and more. Join Chicago Loop Alliance for another year
of holiday fun and festivities. This
year they also introduce Lightscape - an exciting new light and sound
installation on State Street that creates vibrant patterns of color,
choreographed to favorite holiday tunes.
PORTAGE PARK
The LTHForum
Great Neighborhood Restaurants list is a terrific resource of
overwhelmingly low-end, nitty gritty dining. It is the result of the LTH hive
mind-sorting through the city's millions of hot dog stands and takeout Thai
joints and deciding which ones you need to visit over the ones next door to
them that look just like them. On the list is local bakery, Delightful Pastries.
LAKEVIEW
Now is the time to start your fall clean-up. Patch
Landscaping offers to make cleaning up for Winter that much easier!
With services like raking/removal of leaves, aeration of lawn, fertilizing
(winterizing) 5-20-20, removing weeds, final cutting and edging/line trimming/cutting. And Patch Landscaping is making it easier for
you to stay green! Drop off your old cardboard at their shop and they will make
sure it's disposed properly.
GOLD COAST
Highball Lounge opens Thursday in
River North with a finely honed slate of Moscow Mules, Dark and Stormys and
other throwback cocktails just itching to make your acquaintance. Funny enough
for a cocktail lounge, a master sommelier runs the joint. He's created the
perfect spot for that Mad Men-themed holiday party you keep proposing, which
tends to make the faces of the folks in HR and legal go ashen.
NAPERVILLE
Local doctors are doing what they can to help
local residents get their medical needs met especially as people
prioritize differently with money being so tight. Dr. Kaz Zymantas, known as "Dr. Kaz" to his
patients, chose to be a volunteer dentist at a health fair sponsored by a
church in Aurora. Dr. Kaz hopes that other dentists in the area will come on
board and do similar types of things to help people who cannot afford proper
treatment.
