With a brief lull in all the action around here, as we transition into the Holidays, this weekend "the choice is all yours!"

SOFA Chicago 2011 - Navy Pier's Festival Hall (600 E. Grand Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood is where this 18th annual International Exposition of Sculpture Objects and Functional Art will be held on Saturday (11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.) and Sunday (12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.).  Over 80 international art dealers and galleries will be displaying their three-dimensional fine art in ceramics, fiber, glass, metal and wood which, by the way, are also for sale!

Hot Chocolate 15K/5K - Grant Park (500 S. Columbus Drive) in the Grant Park Museums neighborhood is where this race along the lakefront will take place on Saturday with the 5K taking off at 7:40 a.m. and the 15K at 8:10 a.m.  After exerting all that energy, stick around for the post-party featuring live music and, of course, Ghirardelli hot chocolate and fondue.  Boy, life doesn't get any better than this, or does it?  Also includes a running jacket and a gift bag.  RSVP is required though!

The French Pastry Experience - The French Pastry School (226 W. Jackson Boulevard) in the Loop is where you can take a tour of their kitchens and learn to make French desserts, such as baked goods, candies, chocolates, ice cream and sorbets, this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Also includes treats and recipe cards to take home!

Chicago VeganMania - Pulaski Park Fieldhouse (1419 W. Blackhawk Street) in the West Town neighborhood is where you can celebrate the food, fashion, commerce and community surrounding the vegan culture, now in its 3rd year, this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This event features a food court with local vegan restaurants and companies, as well as cooking demonstrations, guest speakers, live music and performances from vegan artists, a photo booth, giveaways and much more!

Red Bull Fuel + Fury - Wrigley Field (1060 W. Addison Street) in the Wrigleyville neighborhood is an event where all you winter sport enthusiasts can watch eight top snowmobilers from around the world compete in an extreme freestyle competition on ramps outside the ballpark!  Please note, this is a free event however RSVP is required.

Beer Hoptacular - Aaragon Ballroom (1106 W. Lawrence Avenue) in the Uptown neighborhood is the place to be if you're in the mood to sample over 100 small-batch beers from over 35 breweries at this annual bash which takes place Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Also includes food vendors, live music and home brewing demos!

Eugene Field Park Craft Fair - Eugene Field Park (5100 N. Ridgeway Avenue) in the Albany Park neighborhood is where you can browse hand-crafted jewelry, kid items, knits, photography, holiday gifts and more this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  It's never too late to begin your Holiday shopping, especially for those unique gift ideas!

Harvest Fest - Whole Foods Market South Loop (1101 S. Canal Street) in the Little Italy/University Village neighborhood is where you can get new recipes and sample beer and wine for your Holiday meal planning this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. along with a farmers market by Growing Home.  Also, you can catch a screening of "Urban Roots" at 3:00 p.m.!
