THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - TIME FOR A “SPOOKING!”

Halloween is here and that only means one thing here in Chicago and its surrounding suburban neighbors - it's "Time For A Spooking!"

A family-friendly Halloween event is the Boo Haha being held at the Raven Theatre (6157 N. Clark Street) in the Edgewater neighborhood this Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This festival features trick-or-treating, face painting, bounce houses, prizes and a costume parade!

The After Hours: County Fear is being held at Saki (3716 W. Fullerton Avenue) in the Logan Square neighborhood this Saturday at 8:00 p.m.  This storefront is transformed into a Halloween carnival that includes a freak show, a nickelodeon, a fortune teller plus games, live music, appetizers and more.  It's a BYOB event too!

This Sunday doors open at 1:00 p.m. at the Portage Theater (4050 N. Milwaukee Avenue) in the Portage Park neighborhood for the Vincentennial: A Halloween Tribute to Vincent Price.  It's a celebration of the classic actor's 100th birthday with a double screening of "The House on Haunted Hill" (2:00 p.m.) and "The Last Man on Earth" (5:00 p.m.).  Your admission includes come-and-go privileges plus you could win a prize for coming dressed as your favorite Vincent Price character and much, much more!

Monday brings the Northalsted Halloween Parade to Halsted Street and Belmont Avenue (3190 N. Halsted Street) at 7:00 p.m.  This 15th annual parade features floats and costume contests emceed by Miss Foozie.  If you want to participate in the costume contest for your chance to win prizes, you need to register at Spin at 4:00 p.m.  Pets are welcome as well!

Let's not forget Navy Pier's Really Big Halloween Party which runs through Monday and features a variety of Halloween activities, such as Trick-or-Treating for children 12 and under; Costume Contests for children (12 and under), teens (13 - 17) and adults (18 and over) with first, second and third place prizes being awarded in each category; Houdini's Dreaded Upside-Down Water Chamber Escape; the Amazing Chicago Funhouse Maze with kids in costume receiving 50% off admission to the Maze; the Haunted Castle 3D at the IMAX Theatre and much, much more!

This year's Spooky Zoo Spectacular at the Lincoln Park Zoo (2200 N. Cannon Drive) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood is another family-friendly Halloween event featuring a haunted house, trick-or-treating, arts and crafts, educational activities, the Spooky Stage in the Main Mall and the toddler edu-tainment zone at Regenstein Center for African Apes as well as a "Special Spooky Guest!"

Creatures of the Night returns to Brookfield Zoo (3300 Golf Road, Brookfield) this weekend from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with more thrills and chills including "The Haunted Tram" which takes passengers on a "Screaming Vacation," or "The Trail of Terror - UNDERNEATH," or "Pumpkin Executioner," or a "7,000-Square-Foot Corn Maze" - don't get lost, or the "Creature Feature Center" located on the West Mall.  The zoo's Pavilions will feature not-so-scary activities for the kids which include a "Monster Mash Dance Party," pumpkin carving and cookie decorating!

Finally, the following two Halloween events are not recommended for children under the age of 13, or maybe even some adults!

One of Chicagoland's newest haunted attractions is Screams In The Park At Rosement located in The Park which is west of River Road between Bryn Mawr and Balmoral Avenues next to Muvico in Rosemont.  Be prepared for secret passageways, torture chambers, vats of deadly acid and much more if you dare!

Six Flags Fright Fest 2011 is back at Six Flags Great America (1 Great American Parkway, Gurnee) with its "Fearful Frights" - additional fee required for these - Massacre Medical Center, Studio 13, Mausoleum of Terror or Primal Scream; "Monstertainment" such as Love at First Fright, Dead Man's Party, Susan Rosen: Mistress of Mesmerism, Zombie Jamboree Day Parade and more; or "Spine-Chilling Adventures" - proceed with caution at any one of these - Terror Twister 2, Demon, The Black Widow, Snakes on a Train and many others!

ARE YOU GAME FOR A "SPOOKING" THIS WEEKEND?
