CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS – LAKEVIEW, NORWOOD PARK, LINCOLN SQUARE, LOOP, NAPERVILLE

LAKEVIEW

Flourish Studios is hosting a special book signing event with author Katie Bering.  In this memoir, Katie Bering chronicles her poignant story of a shy girl's journey of survival. Growing up in Yugoslavia, she survived the terror of Hitler's army as she moved through different parts of Europe during World War II.

NORWOOD PARK

Thodos Dance Chicago is excited to announce Winter Workshop 2011! This is your weekend to get away from all the holiday stress, stay involved in the Chicago dance scene over winter break, and immerse yourself in the innovative and athletic movement style of Thodos Dance Chicago.

LINCOLN SQUARE

Bailiwick Chicago's 30th production of the Annual Casting Auction is coming November 5.  Absolutely no performance experience necessary, just the desire to be on stage and to help support Bailiwick Chicago theatre!  Bid on the Live Auction for Lead Roles (Silent Auction for Chorus, Cameo, Supporting and Children's Roles) in Damn Yankees.

LOOP

Prepare for DucknRoll, debuting on this week with a full slate of Vietnamese sandwiches ready for your approval.  The truth is that this isn't your typical banh mi. Oh, sure, they've got one of those-made with a crunchy French baguette they've commissioned especially for them, and loaded with headcheese, pâté and ham. But from there things take off in a more Shanghai pork belly, Thai chicken curry, Chinese five-spice pulled duck and sake-and-miso-braised short rib direction.

NAPERVILLE

Sixteen members of Children of the World International Choir will perform Sunday at Naperville's Grace Pointe Church. The children of the choir, who are between the ages of 7 and 12, are from the Philippines, Nepal and Uganda, and will be hosted by families from the church.  Children of the World International Choir is a part of World Help, a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides humanitarian relief to impoverished countries. The performance is part of a 10-month tour across the U.S. during which the choir will appear at churches and schools.
