CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS – NORWOOD PARK, LINCOLN PARK, LOOP, LOGAN SQUARE, NAPERVILLE

NORWOOD PARK

It's the end of the week and you need to unwind after a long-short week.  Join Bottom Lounge for the Free Friday After Work Rum Series from 5-9pm this Friday.  Complimentary snacks and rum samples from the finest Rum manufacturers in the Caribbean and South America.  The featured rum this week is Novo Fogo. From the organic certification to the painstakingly manual production process, Novo Fogo is 100% simpler life.

LINCOLN PARK

Jam 'n Honey, a new DePaul neighborhood corner spot with a very laissez-faire attitude when it comes to things you spread on your toast, is now open. For now, the one thing you must order: toast. Each table is set with stout pots of orange marmalade, strawberry jam and, graciously, one big container of Nutella. Spread it on that toast. Put it on your banana nut french toast. Stir it in your coffee. There is no wrong answer.

LOOP

Ahh, Napa has followed me home after a recent visit! The Windy City Wine Fest in the middle of Grant Park gives you a tasting glass, then turns you loose on dozens of winemakers pouring hundreds of wines. When you need a break, just head to the beer garden. This is a wine fest that knows how to cover its bases.

LOGAN SQUARE

Introducing Dante's Pizzeria, which opened Monday in Logan Square, offering New York-style slices amid punk rock posters and a Divine Comedy motif.  You have two options: 1) Big, floppy and foldable slices with dough modeled after the best spots in NYC. 2) Specialty pies which come in one size, "Enormous." With the phrase "Abandon All Hunger, Ye Who Enter Here" above the kitchen, it's definitely a great place to check out.

NAPERVILLE

Donate to JEWEL-OSCO's "Give a Little, Save a Lot" food drive from now to Oct. 1.  Make a monetary or food donation at any JEWEL-OSCO store and all contributions will go to the Greater Chicago Food Depository and other area food banks and food pantries.   September is "Hunger Action Month."  The grocer's 2010 food drive raised more than $2 million in donations.
