NORWOOD PARK
Onahan
School was awarded a
$25,000 check from Discover's
School Giveaway for earning the most votes in the company's Facebook
contest. Representative Mike Quigley presented the check to the school on
Tuesday. With more than 2900 schools
competing nationwide the Norwood
Park school was glad to
receive the financial boost which will go towards books, supplies, technology
and other needed items.
LAKEVIEW
Bleeding Heart Bakery
(BHB) collected donations for this past week's storm victims in the Midwest. Coming in
July is their Cupcake Eating Challenge.
You're encouraged to stuff your face at the new Lakeview store's grand
opening at 2961 N. Lincoln Avenue.
It's $25 to register and there will be many prizes from BHB and their sponsors
-- Alterra Coffee and Organic
Valley.
GOLD COAST
Welcome back to an entirely refreshed NoMI,
opening Friday, officially launching rooftop cocktail and caviar season. After
a six-month renovation, the dining room's 100% white-tablecloth-free, the outdoor
bar's much longer and the dark wine cellar next to the cheese cave.
LOOP
The Auditorium Theater was host to the Beach
Boys 43 years ago for the first time.
This June 9th, they return to Chicago for a one night only performance with
guest, John Stamos. The event is
presented by 94.7 WLS-FM with limited VIP package which includes prime pit
seating, post-show meet & greet with The Beach Boys, specialty drinks and
summer fare!
OAK PARK
In 1948 the Friends of the Oak Park Public
Library began work to support the Library, building bridges between the
Library and community, and raising funds to sponsor the programs and services
that the Library could not otherwise afford. The Friends are happy to announce
the 41st Annual Book Fair on August 5 and August 6.
