Now that the Holiday Season is officially upon us with Black Friday being a distant memory for another year, some "popular holiday events return" along with some new kids on the block!

The popular Christkindlmarket Chicago is back for its 15th annual, open-air, German-style market held at the Daley Plaza (50 West Washington Street) in the Loop.  This year's market features handmade accessories, clothing, ornaments and gifts from over 50 vendors, as well as German food and drink - bratwurst, potato pancakes, schnitzel, hot spiced wine, chocolates and much more.  That is, of course, if you still have room after overstuffing yourself on Thanksgiving!

If you happened to have missed your Black Friday opportunity, whether by choice or just couldn't get out of bed before the crack of dawn, like me, you can make a dent in your holiday shopping at these alternate options -

Bucktown Bazaar this Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Holstein Park Fieldhouse (2200 North Oakley Avenue) in the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhoods.  Unique handmade gifts from do-it-yourself crafters and established artisans from the annual Bucktown Arts Fest will be on display and available for purchase.  Also on hand will be a silent auction as well as an origami workshop for the kids both days from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; or

The Vintage Bazaar this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at a Micro Pop-Up Shop in a vacant storefront located at 2955 West Lyndale Street.  Second-hand décor, housewares and gifts are available for purchase from vendors such as Blue Bell Bazaar, Cushion, Lisa's Retro Style, Manly Vintage and STUDY.

Lastly, the popular Zoolights returns this Holiday season to Lincoln Park Zoo (2200 North Canon Drive) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.  Nearly 1.5 million lights add holiday cheer to the zoo grounds with ice carving demonstrations, kids' activities and visits with Santa through the New Year from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  A great event for both adults and kids!

There are many more "popular" Holiday events yet to arrive, so this weekend probably is the best time to wrap-up your Holiday shopping so you can enjoy what's in store for the coming weekends!

BTW, our beloved Chicago Bears will be hosting the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at Soldier's Field at Noon.  One can only hope that Vick has a bad day!!
