Chicagoans are still in luck since we have one more weekend of "pre-holiday fun before the frenzy" of the holidays kick into high gear! Don't let these opportunities pass you by -

The Goodman Theatre (170 N. Dearborn Street) in the Loop knows how frenzied it's going to get so this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to Noon they offer Pooch on Scrooge. Scrooge will be available for photo sessions with your "well-behaved" pooch! A digital copy of the photo taken by David Sutton, the renowned pet photographer, will be given to the owners as their pooches get holiday-themed treats. Reservations are recommended along with a $15 suggested donation. I know my pooches are tired of the man in the red suit. Perhaps they'll take a better liking to Scrooge - Bah Humbug!

Get discounts of up to 75% on luxury home furnishings and accessories in the River North neighborhood at the Merchandise Mart's (222 Merchandise Mart Plaza) Merchandise Mart Sample Sale this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Showrooms are located on the 6th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th floors along with design consultations. Here's your chance to update your home's décor, with some great cost savings, in time for the holidays - especially if you're entertaining!

This Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Avenue) in the Streeterville neighborhood will be hosting the 4th Annual Pinot Days Chicago Grand Festival. More than 300 pinot noirs from 70 producers will be on hand to offer tastings of their pinots along with Chef Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill/Topolobampo) and Katherine Anne Confections specialty food pairings. Perhaps a few holiday gifts will be purchased?

If you're on the hunt for that unique gift or hard to buy for person this holiday season, you might want to check out the Handmade Market this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Empty Bottle (1035 N. Western Avenue) in the East Village/Ukrainian Village neighborhoods. More than 30 local crafters will be on hand selling items such as clothing, greeting cards, journals, handbags, scarves and much more. A few of those local crafters are: 16 Sparrows (personalized stationery and sarcastic cards), Besu (wallets, bags and pouches), Deelights Biscuits (organic dog treats), Lily Sky Designs (vintage fabric baby clothes and accessories), Rustbelt Fiberwerks (housewares and other soft goods) along with many others.

Let's not forget this Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Moonshine Brewing Company (1824 W. Division Street) in the East Village/Ukrainian Village neighborhoods brings you the 2nd Annual Warm Up and Bear Down Chili Cook-Off. This tailgate party held in the bar's parking lot, rain or shine, features all-you-can-eat chili from professional chefs to 16 amateurs, a/k/a hot shot residents, competing for that $500 grand prize with second-place taking a $250 prize and third-place taking a $100 prize! Drink specials to be offered as well to assist in washing down that chili! Cost of entry is $10; however, if you bring a coat to donate, you'll get in for $5 - great deal for a great cause!!

So, Let the Countdown Begin! Are You Ready for the Upcoming Frenzy? I'm Not Either!!
