KATHY’S HOME & GARDEN TIPS – ORGANIZE INSIDE BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS

Go through your house and purge, purge and purge some more. Go room by room and look for things that can go. Donate them to charity and get a nice tax write off. Make a few bucks by having a garage sale or sell them on E-bay.

Some items can function as something you might actually need. Unneeded nightstands can be transformed into end tables. Small book shelves can be put into closets to store shoes, toys and clothes.

Inexpensive plastic bins can hold and organize smaller items. Use clear bins or label them for easy reference. Make a few extra labels for holiday decorations. When the New Year comes, you will have a place for all the lights and ornaments that are currently all over the place.

Under bed storage is great! Put bed skirts on and store bins full of bedding underneath. Space Bags are great for under bed storage. They're easy to use and actually work. Store clean bedding under the guest bed and you're ready for any unexpected holiday guest. There are hanging space bags that are great for out of season clothes.

Do this organizing before Thanksgiving. Once the holidays get here we get into panic mode and you won't have time for much organizing.

Our weather in Chicago has been fairly nice this fall. Take advantage and get all your outside work done before tackling the inside.
