THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - TAKING IT TO CHICAGO’S NEIGHBORHOODS!

With another hot and humid weekend predicted for this weekend, we'll be taking it to Chicago's neighborhoods for some good ‘ole fun and R&R!

The Edgewater neighborhood will mark its Community Council's 50th anniversary at their Edgewater Arts Festival located at Berger Park (6205 N. Sheridan Road).  Fifty exhibitors will feature their fine arts and crafts while local theater groups will put on performances.

The Sheffield/DePaul neighborhood will host their 42nd annual Sheffield Garden Walk and Festival at Webster and Sheffield Avenues (2200 N. Sheffield Avenue).  This event offers exploration of nearly 90 gardens in the historic Sheffield neighborhood from noon-5:30 p.m. daily, along with guided architectural tours and garden tours.  Also on hand will be live music, food and beer vendors, kids' activities and other fest fare.

The River North neighborhood hosts their Taste of River North at Erie Park (630 N. Kingsbury Street) this Saturday and Sunday.  On hand will be neighborhood restaurants, galleries, shops, live music and special kids' and pets' activities.  $1 each will get you food and drink tickets.  Join the local improv theater ComedySportz on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. to attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records record for the most high fives in one hour!

The Uptown neighborhood brings back its Windy City Ribfest to 4810 N. Broadway Avenue from its former location at Union Park.  This 2nd annual fest features a best ribs contest along with other finger-lickin' good food, live music and arts and crafts.

The Wicker Park neighborhood will be celebrating its 36th annual CUPULA/Colombian Independence Day Festival this Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the Congress Theater (2135 N. Milwaukee Avenue).  Needless to say, this fest features food from local Colombian restaurants along with dance performances, art and live music.

The Chinatown neighborhood is host to this year's McDonald's Chinatown Summer Fair held at 2200 S. Wentworth Avenue from 24th Place to Cermak Road this Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  This 31st annual neighborhood fest is highlighted by a colorful lion and dragon dance procession at 12:45 p.m. with additional ethnic music and dance performances.  And, not to be out done by the other neighborhood fests, on hand will be Chinatown restaurants serving up some of their favorite food dishes along with arts and crafts, a baby contest, cutest dog contest, kids' activities and various street vendors.

And finally, the River North neighborhood will be hosting this Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the Chicago Luxury Ice Cream Festival "Preview" at the Kenmore Live Studio (678 N. Wells Street).  Get a pre-taste of some of the exotic ice cream flavors from local creameries and ice cream cupcakes from the Bleeding Heart Bakery before the actual Luxury Ice Cream Festival kicks off next weekend!  This preview event also includes baking demonstrations along with live music provided by the Grammy-nominated jazz ensemble Liquid Soul.  Please take note that you will need a ticket if you wish to attend next weekend's main event.

CAN'T TAKE THE HUMIDITY?  THERE'S ALWAYS THE BEACHES AND INDOOR MALLS!!  ENJOY - STAY COOL AND BE COOL!
