NORWOOD PARK
Are you big on trivia? Okay then, what's the oldest building in Chicago? Nope, it's not the Widow Clarke House but the city-landmarked building, Noble-Seymour-Crippen House in Norwood Park. The home has a unique history which has been preserved by the Norwood Park Historical Society. With lots of activities in the area, make sure to stop by this local treasure which is now on the National Register of Historical Places.
LAKEVIEW
Don't miss the opportunity to start your weekend early for Legend's Crossroads Weekend 2010. As a kick-off to the huge celebration, Buddy Guy's Legends will be kicking off the festivities tonight with artists Gary Clark, Jr. and Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band featuring Lou Anne Barton. You may even get a glimpse of the legend himself.
SOUTH LOOP
Old St. Mary's parish started their project for a new school on May 5th when they broke ground. The school has outgrown its current location and is in the process of building a three story structure which will have a total 33,000 square feet. There was concern the project would get stalled but the Zoning Board of Appeals granted the request for variance from the Catholic Bishop of Chicago.
LINCOLN SQUARE
Tonight is a perfect night for going to the local Farmer's Market in Lincoln Square. Not only will you enjoy the sites but also the sounds of Doko Benjo. Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce's Summer Concert series runs every Thursday night through September 2nd.
EVANSTON
Evanton's Public Libraries are a great resource for all residents. Next Wednesday, June 30th, the two local Whole Foods in Evanston will be donating 5% of their net sales to Evanston Public Library Friends. The effort is in response to the possibility of closing local branches of the Evanston Public Library. Come out and support your community.
