THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - IT’S FESTIVAL TIME AGAIN IN CHICAGO!
With the "unofficial" kick-off of summer arriving next weekend, it's "festival" time again in Chicago this weekend! And, as an added bonus, the weather should be cooperating, if our weather reporters are correct with their predictions.
It's been a long-time coming, so let's get started -
Kicking off this year's "festival" season, now in its 17th year, is Chicago Mayfest in the Lakeview neighborhood at Ashland and Barry Avenues. Please plan accordingly on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as the fest turns into a giant playground for kids. Then Sunday brings the pet parade at Noon with registration at 11:00 a.m. Needless to say, headlining bands will be featured as well. Click here for more information and the musical lineup.
Or, there's the Green Festival at Navy Pier in the Streeterville neighborhood located at 600 E. Grand Avenue. This fest will feature over 350 eco-friendly vendors, workshops, speakers, kids' activities and more. Get free admission by donating an old mobile phone or riding your bike! Click here for more information.
Or, there's the 8th annual Chicago Turkish Festival this Sunday through Wednesday of next week at the Daley Plaza located in the Loop at 50 W. Washington Street. Besides Turkish food and coffee, live music and folk dancing performances will be held at Noon each day. This fest also features a craft bazaar, a fashion show, art demonstrations and much more, so click here for more information.
If you prefer to tone it down a bit, perhaps one of these events will suit you -
It's Pug Party time again at Joe's Bar in the Old Town neighborhood located at 940 W. Weed Street. Come join hundreds of pugs and their owners at this bi-annual dog party, which will include a pug parade and merchandise vendors. By the way, costumes are encouraged, so don't let your little pug down! For more information, click here.
Guess what - it's Back to the Pub Crawl: Super Crawl ‘80s this Saturday at Bernie's in the Wrigleyville neighborhood located at 3664 N. Clark Street. This 8th annual crawl takes you to six bars and includes a T-shirt, 22-ounce mug, raffles, drink specials and much more. Be one of the first 500 attendees to receive a Blackhawks towel. Click here for more information and a list of participating bars.
Looking for something more relaxing? What about -
The Spring Art Show this Saturday evening at Galleria 1712 in the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood located at 1712 W. North Avenue. Browse over a dozen works from local artists and photographers while sipping on your glass of wine! For more information, click here.
