CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS – NORWOOD PARK, LAKEVIEW, LOOP, RAVENSWOOD, OAK PARK
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Though some of our news does not include wearing of the green, we know everyone is Irish today. There are so many events happening today, you can also check out a full listing at Metromix because things are already happening.
NORWOOD PARK
On St. Patrick's Day you just have to go local. Tonight you will find so much fun and friendly neighborhood style at Emerald Isle. It's a local's hang out with great camaraderie and good times to be had by all. And with a name like Emerald Isle, how could you go wrong? They have a top rating on both Yelp and Metromix so you're sure to enjoy the festivities, which start today at noon.
LAKEVIEW
Tonight is definitely going to be a true St. Paddy's Day on Southport. Local Irish pub, Mystic Celt, is hosting a whale of a green party tonight. Be sure to get there early because there will be a line. Local Chicago Red Eye, Metromix, Miller Lite and WXRT will be in attendance from 6-9 pm. With Irish dancers, DJ's and bagpipers, it's sure to be a traditional celebration.
LOOP
Celebrating a 12 year anniversary, 312 Restaurant is offering their 12-day deal. The deal includes $12 entrees, $12 bottle of wine and a dozen pastry of the day for $12. Since the cuisine is Italian, you should know this special lasts until March 20 so you have time to enjoy these great festivities after your St. Pat's celebration.
RAVENSWOOD
You can still register for 10-week and 5-week classes at Lillstreet Art Center! Hundreds of classes for all skill levels and ages available in ceramics (wheelthrowing, sculpture), metalsmithing and jewelry, printmaking, painting and drawing.
Try one of the "First Time Artist" classes if you are new to the arts, or are looking to try a medium the you've never experimented with before. For a complete class schedule and to register, click here or call 773.769.4226.
OAK PARK
You have to love Irish pubs and even in Oak Park there are many to choose. One of my favorites is Molly Malone's which will be opening today at 11am to start off their St. Pat's party. With local artists including musicians, dancers, bagpipers and the crowning of Miss Molly Malone 2010, you're sure to enjoy the celebration of holiday at any given moment today.
