TECHNOLOGY TIPS - CLOSED CAPTIONING ON YOUTUBE
Though automatic captioning was launched last November, it was in beta testing with several educational services. Now it's available to all YouTube users.
Think about it, now when you have a YouTube video that you want to watch, you can put it on mute and then watch without sound. This is something new that is going to be supported on all new video uploaded into the YouTube system.
The captioning is not perfect as it will be translated by Google's speech recognition software. As you add new video you can also edit the captioning which will be a great benefit to the software. It's unclear if Google Voice is the software being used, but it's still a great add on for information to be shared across the web.
If you have some older videos you'd like to receive the captioning, you can put in a request so that Google will add the captioning for you.
Time to go make some movies!
