TECHNOLOGY TIPS – HOLIDAY WEBSITES TO ASSIST IN YOUR HOLIDAY SHOPPING

Cathy Mallers Photo

I'm usually a last-minute buyer when I do my holiday shopping.  This year, I joined the throngs of Black Friday shoppers and am already done except for those one-offs that always seem to come in later.  I've found all these sites are either fun or helpful for anyone at this time of year.

I found this site called CoalGram which is absolutely hysterical.  So let's say you have someone on your list who is more naughty than nice from your own perspective.  What better way to let them know you don't care for their wicked ways by sending a real, live piece of coal.  The coal is from a coal mine in Pennsylvania.  You have the option of sending anonymously and lest you have regrets, 15% of the purchase goes to one of three charities listed on the site.

The other site I found that I just love is Free Shipping which has a list of all the stores offering free shipping for one day this holiday season.  This Thursday, December 17, is the second annual free shipping day.  You choose the store of your choice, click the link and the code is automatically entered for you when you check out.  The other great thing about this site is that it's not exclusively for shipping.  For example, if you go to Target there are multiple options for you to select discounts off a specific dollar amount.  It's a great way to save money this holiday season.

Finally, don't forget to go to eBay and search "coupon."  There are many reputable sellers who have multiple coupons not only for local retail chains but also for pet products and grocery items.  This is a great way to buy those every day items you need without spending a lot of money.  And sometimes you just find a diamond in the rough.  Trust me, I used one of these coupons on Black Friday, didn't pay any cash AND got a gift certificate for my present.
