NORWOOD PARK

Norwood Park is a community that is staunched in so much history and now with the new Zitella Development Corp. development of a 16-space, pedestrian-friendly strip shopping center it's growth is sure to come.

The rebuilding of this neighborhood with its known neighborliness is sure to attract more retail and dining.  Norwood Park is best known for local favorite Superdawg Drive-in.  And according to Danielle Olsen, "You have a very warm feel among the residents, and a mix of young and old.  When you come here, you stay."

LAKEVIEW

This past weekend, some friends and I went to DMK Burger Bar for an early dinner.  I wasn't sure what to expect but then I was told that DMK was started by local favorite Michael Kornick of MK fame.  They've just recently opened so we weren't sure what to expect, but a couple people in our group are on the hunt for the perfect burger in Chicago.

Let me tell you that they had a lot to choose from and it was all pretty good.  We had a vegan in our midst and she said the burger was really good.  The best thing about these burgers is that they were a good size without being overwhelmed by bun.  It's worth the El trip to stop on by and check it out.  PS - The cost was bearable too!

LOOP

And the holiday fun continues to bring us great classic memories.  The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs is offering a free live performance of It's a Wonderful Life by radio voice actors, sound effects artists, and musicians. The AFTRA/SAG Players stay faithful to the original model by having to get it right the first time - no retakes permitted.

The show starts at 7pm on Thursday night and is held at the Claudia Cassidy Theater.

RAVENSWOOD

Metra is expected to rebuild platforms and decrepit shelters, which will include three new Metra stations and renovations to 24 dilapidated facilities.  The project is part of a $136-million, state-funded public works program.

Local Ravenswood residents will be the beneficiaries of this program.  A new facility will be built on the North Side at Peterson/Ridge avenues on the Union Pacific North line with $5 million from the program. The station is intended to relieve crowding at the Rogers Park and Ravenswood stations, Metra said.

NAPERVILLE

It's that time of year when everyone is baking cookies, getting trees ready, shopping, etc.  There are times when you just want to try something different but are unsure of where to get that something little special.

The Naperville Sun is now doing a virtual cookie exchange where you can find new recipes and share some of your own favorites.  Having just received a couple new baking items, I can't wait to check it out.
