As people get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving and Black Friday, let's not forget that tonight is being touted as Black Wednesday. There are so many things to do throughout the city of Chicago and especially in our favorite neighborhoods. And don't forget, Chicago's Thanksgiving Day parade information.
PORTAGE PARK
So if you really want to rock it out and get your holiday festivities started off with a bang, you'll want to head over to Portage Theater tonight as they host the Rockin' Theater Showcase.
It's an all ages show featuring Bang Tango, D'Molls, Odette, Waste, Loveblast and Armored Assault. The concert starts at 6pm so be sure to get there early.
LINCOLN PARK
Tonight at Landmark Grill you can meet Colin Egglesfield of Melrose Place. In addition to gratis canapés, chair massages from Juvenesse Spa and $7 cocktails, Colin is promoting his line of T-shirts, featuring removable type.
LOOP
Chicago Sport and Social Club's first ever Black Wednesday party is at Bull & Bear, 431 N. Wells St., on November 25th at 8 pm. Tonight is the perfect excuse to kick off the holiday weekend with a bang!
Bull & Bear will offer drink specials including $3 Coors Light, $4 Smirnoff and $6 Jose Cuervo and Captain Morgan. Also featured are a live DJ and complimentary entry into the after party at Stone Lotus! Click here to be placed on our VIP guest list.
LINCOLN SQUARE
The Old Town School of Folk Music consistently brings amazing music and world traditions to the stage each Wednesday. Since tonight has already been dubbed "Black Wednesday," why not go out and enjoy an evening in Lincoln Park listening to some great Latin music.
Tonight Frankie Vazquez celebrates the 6th Annual Tribute to the Improvisational Singer. This event is a celebration of the improvisor (or "sonero") in traditional Salsa of which Vazquez is one of the greatest proponents. This is sure to be an amazing evening.
EVANSTON
This past Saturday the Evanston Art Center opened its 7th annual Winter Arts and Crafts Expo. You can purchase one-of-a-kind pieces including handmade works of jewelry, ceramics, fiber, metal, glass, painting, photography, mixed-media, and more.
The shopping hours are 10a-4pm Monday through Saturday (closed Thanksgiving) and 12pm-4pm on Sunday. There are some special days if you want to make this more of a family outing. They have a Girls Night Out on December 3rd or Men's Shopping Day on December 19th. Either way, you'll be supporting the Evanston Art Center as all proceeds benefit ongoing exhibition, education, and outreach programs.
