THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - THERE’S MORE THAN JUST BASEBALL & FOOTBALL! RIGHT?
Believe it or not, there are still a variety of other things to do in and around Chicago this weekend even though there's no baseball (maybe next year) or football (bye week) in town! Let's check it out -
For my "movie" goers, the 45th Annual Chicago International Film Festival runs daily through October 22nd at AMC River East 21 (322 E. Illinois St.) in the Streeterville neighborhood. Screenings are being provided by 45 countries with over 145 feature films, documentaries and shorts by up and coming as well as established filmmakers. Click here for more details.
For my "live music" goers, there's the Clark/Belmont Music Fest this Saturday in the Lakeview neighborhood. Food vendors along with arts and crafts will be featured as well as a performance by Vanilla Ice. Check out a list of other performers and more by clicking here.
For my "great outdoor" goers, there's the Fall Color Festival on Saturdays and Sundays through November 1st at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle (4100 Illinois Route 53). Celebrate fall on the scarecrow trail, or at the gourd art demonstrations, or help yourself to the taffy apple bar and fall foods, or at the free wine tastings. Click here for times and prices.
For my "sweet tooth" goers, the Andersonville Dessert Crawl is Sunday over at the Swedish American Museum Center (5211 N. Clark St.). There are two walking tours both of which feature 13 local restaurants and shops serving sweet and spicy samples. The "Everything Nice" option will get you on both tours - yummy! Click here for more information.
For my "family friendly event" goers, there's the 18th Annual Harvest Festival at the North Park Village Nature Center (5801 N. Pulaski Rd.). This free autumn festival features a farmer's market, live music, story-telling, a scarecrow building contest and much more. Click here for further details.
Last, but not least, this Sunday at Grant Park (500 S. Columbus Dr.) is the Chicago Marathon. Come out and support the 45,000 runners who will attempt to complete the 26.2-mile course through 29 city neighborhoods. Click here for locations of the spectators "cheering zones".
GET GOING - WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
