TECHNOLOGY TIPS - A RECAP OF FREE AND INEXPENSIVE TECHNOLOGY

Since I've started posting with Dean's Team, I've tried to provide areas where you can find free or inexpensive technology that assists you in maximizing your experience on your computer.
Below are several technologies that I continue to reference to all my friends, colleagues and family. I hope you take a few minutes to review these great sites again.
First, take a look at CCleaner. This is specifically for a PC and it provides a good cleaning for your PC. It helps get rid of the junk that makes your PC sluggish and revs the engine right back up.
Another favorite of mine is Mozy. This software is a free back-up tool for up to 2GB of information or you can get unlimited back-up for $4.95 per month. This is a great way to back-up your images and other important files.
No PC system would be complete without an anti-virus and security program to protect against all those ugly and unwanted infections. My favorite is AVG. This software is free or you can purchase the upgrade for under $50. If you have a PC, this is what most computer techs recommend.
Now, if you're feeling social, my two favorites are Twitter and Facebook. The thing to remember about these platforms is that they are social meaning you need to feed the Bird or the Book. It's a fun and fascinating way to connect or re-connect with anyone from your past. A word of caution, don't put out there what you wouldn't want your mother to see.
And finally, when you are looking for information go to Yelp or Metromix. Yelp is "the fun and easy way to find, review and talk about what's great - and not so great - in your area." Metromix is one of the best places to find events that are happening in the Chicago area. You can also narrow your search by things like festivals, dinner events, etc.
