LINCOLN PARK

So what's your sign?  Gemini Bistro will be opening today in Lincoln Park.  It's the brainchild of chefs Jason Paskewitz (formerly of the Pump Room and Wave) and Ryan O'Donnell (Keefer's).  Dishes include new tastes on old favorites.  It's sure to excite.

LAKEVIEW

A picture says a thousand words.  At least at Chicago Photography Center (CPC) that's part of the philosophy.  The CPC offers classes, boot camps and workshops focusing on digital photography and film photography, as well as a variety of specialty courses.

Their students include true beginners, who may not even own a camera when they sit in on their first class, and dedicated, advanced amateurs who are honing their skills to turn their passion into a business.

The new class session starts next week.  Read more here.

LOOP

It's a Chicago institution and now it's going to head all over the country.  Yep, Lou Mitchell's will be franchising their concept and amazing local cuisine primarily in Chicago.

An architectural firm aided the company with the franchise to duplicate the shape of the space, the detailed mill work, the signage, floor tiles and the lightning.

GOLD COAST

Yesterday was quite the event when Oprah took over the Mag Mile (Michigan Avenue) to celebrate her 24th season on the airwaves.  Sharing in the celebration were The Black Eyed Peas and Jennifer Hudson.

The entire street was closed down and showcased Chicago's ability to host a large function without event.  To read more about the event, click here.  For those who missed attending, you can view the show on air on Thursday, September 10.

NAPERVILLE

A cascading waterfall, the Hollywood sign, cinema, bar and eatery.  Sounds like a party doesn't it?

It could be a party but it's actually the new Hollywood Palms.  With an official opening happening on September 24, tonight the Hollywood Palms is showing "The Burning Plain," starring Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger.  A suggested donation of $5 will go towards the Easter Seals of DuPage.
