Despite the current economic climate, pet owners continue their doggie doting.  As a member of the family, pet owners show their affection for their pups with pampering like oatmeal-aloe vera baths and professional blow dries.

Lenette DiCiaula, a veterinarian at Portage Park Animal Hospital & Dental Clinic, is seeing that animals continue to be brought in.  To read more, click here.

LAKEVIEW

It may be getting chillier but who doesn't love an Italian gelato?  Not your typical ice cream parlor, you'll find such flavors as chocolate-extra virgin olive oil or sweet potato-organic maple syrup.

Considered the best gelato in Dallas, Paciugo opens today in Lakeview at 3241 N. Broadway.  To read more, click here.

WEST LOOP

Ogilvie Transportation Center aka the other Union Station is going to market.  Due to open in late October, the 15,000-square-foot Chicago French Market (CFM) is inspired by the hubs of seasonal foods in Europe.  CFM is the food emporium that will be the main anchor for MetraMarket, which is the transformed 2-block lot under the Metra tracks at Ogilvie.

The market will be open Monday through Saturday to accommodate the over 50,000 daily passengers who pass through Metra's doors.  To read more, click here.

LINCOLN SQUARE

Lincoln Square has long been the place to be for all things German.  Giddings Plaza is at the center of this thriving neighborhood (near the new Keller Williams office).

This Thursday is the last night in the Summer Concert Series.  To read more about it, click here.

OAK PARK

Don't forget that getting the giggles is a good thing.  That's exactly what local resident Mikki Reinhold, 95 years young, will tell you - and she will tell you.

As a current resident of the Oak Park Arms, Mikki recalls going to Chicago Cubs "Lady's Day."  "I passed out and a very cute red-headed usher carried me inside and we all got in ahead of everyone else," she said.
