THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - A FAIRLY DECENT WEEKEND!

Sue MossAs we transition from July into August here in Chicago, a fairly decent weekend is lined up for those of us who prefer to get out and enjoy this summer.  However, I can't speak for the weather but I do hope it's as fairly decent as last weekend!

We've got the Gold Coast Art Fair opening today at Noon in the River North Gallery District (700 N. LaSalle St.).  This is their 52nd year featuring work from more than 300 juried artists.  There's also painting and sculpting demos along with music, food, wine vendors and more, so click here to get more details.

We've also got the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival opening at Noon today as well in the Logan Square neighborhood (2300 N. Milwaukee Ave.).  This neighborhood festival has their area shops and restaurants setting up sidewalk sales between California and Ridgeway Avenues along Milwaukee Avenue as well as featuring arts and crafts, a Sunday farmers market and much more.  Click here for the entertainment lineup as well as more details.

Then there's Retro on Roscoe this Saturday and Sunday in the Roscoe Village neighborhood on Roscoe Street from Damen to Oakley Avenues.  This is their 15th year featuring three stages of live music, an antique car show and the Windy City Chili Cook-Off as more than 25 cooks present their best recipes and much more!  Click here for the band lineup and more.

A bit more low-keyed is the Uptown Summer Unity Festival this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Clarendon Park (4501 N. Clarendon Ave.).  Dancing, poetry and a variety of live music will be provided and more.  Click here for more information.

In the mood to shop and look for a bargain at the same time!  The Kane County Flea Market should be able to fit that bill with nearly 1,000 dealers selling new merchandise, crafts, antiques and collectibles this Saturday and Sunday.  Click here for times and location.

The Lake County Fairgrounds will be hosting their 81st annual Lake County Fair this weekend at Peterson and Midlothian Roads.  There's many activities planned for this event so click here to get all the information.

Last, but not least, two events are taking place this weekend for our four-legged, furry family members, who also love the great outdoors!  The Anti-Cruelty Society will be hosting their annual Dog Wash this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Price is $10-$25 per dog.  So, if you don't want to take a bath along with your dog, head on over to 169 W. Grand Ave.  Then on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Soldier Field will be hosting Dog Day on the Green with many canine-themed activities for free!

Finally, Movies in the Parks will be presenting the following movies -

Friday, July 31st"The Dark Knight", Rowan Park, 11546 S. Avenue L; "Kung Fu Panda", Kosciuszko Park, 2732 N. Avers Avenue and Emmerson Park, 1820 W. Granville Avenue.

Saturday, August 1st:  "Hook", Hiawatha Park, 8029 W. Forest Preserve Drive; "In the Heat of the Night", Tuley Park, 501 E. 90th Place.

Hope you all Enjoy your "Fairly Decent" Weekend - I know I will!!
