LINCOLN PARK
Spring has come to Chicago
(fingers crossed)! It's a time when
everyone starts getting out more, does that run with the dog, etc.
Speaking of dogs, Joe's Bar on Weed Street is now offering a Doggy Happy
Hour for singles. That's right if you
want to be out with your pooch, watch a dog movie and meet some new singles,
Wednesday night is for you.

LAKEVIEW
Who says you can't do anything at any age?! This past Saturday Eleanor Benz, at the age
of 90, received her high school certificate from Chicago Public Schools' Lake
View High.
It was 1936 when Benz dropped out. During that time in the Great Depression it
was very rare for a position to open up, so she took the job and never looked
back.
As a special surprise for her 90th birthday, her
family contacted the school to see if their mother would qualify for the
diploma. She was granted her diploma
which was dated February 1, 1936 and signed by then principal, Olice
Winter. According to Benz, "I feel
blessed. Although, you know nowadays, even a high school graduation isn't
enough. You need to go to college."

GOLD COAST
Not to be outdone by Bike the Drive, the 6th
Annual World Naked Bike Ride will be this Saturday, June 13, from 9pm to
midnight. For obvious reason the route
is undisclosed and recommended viewing points will be announced to fans and
spectators before the event.
This is a serious bike ride and not for gawkers of any
sort. This ride promotes several causes,
most notably a healthy lifestyle and reducing our carbon footprint.

EVANSTON
That old adage that good guys finish last in this case rings
true because this good guy gets the last laugh.
I think that's five cliché's in one sentence (a new record even for me)!
Local pizza delivery man, Stephen Walker, has been on the
job for 16 years. This past week had an
encounter where he was attacked and his money and car were stolen. Normally this would be in the police blotter
and just another average story.
What the two assailants didn't know is the community in Evanston is tight-knit and one of the residents in the
area launched a website to support Walker
with his recovery. It has now reached
international acclaim.
