CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS - PORTAGE PARK, LAKEVIEW, WEST LOOP, LINCOLN SQUARE, NAPERVILLE
PORTAGE PARK
We have not done this in some time, so we decided it was time
to take a little food tour of our favorite eateries in Portage Park.
If you are looking for a great place that's affordable, good
for the family and has amazing steak tacos, then look no further than La
Palapita. This place gets
4-stars overall and consistently high ratings on Yelp.
Another of the more impressive eateries is your own home
with Give Me Some Sugar. They have received 5-stars across the board
on Yelp. One of the best parts of their service
is that they will customize your at-home experience for whatever you want. One group did their own Ace of Cakes rather
than a 3-course meal.
LAKEVIEW
Marilyn Monroe. Do
you know who she is?
All kidding aside, there is going to be an homage to Hollywood's bombshell at
the Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club this Sunday, June 7.
The dinner special will be completely themed to honor the
legend. You can expect to see many
themed items including "All About Eve" gazpacho. To read more, click here.
WEST
LOOP
It's festival time in Chicago and one of the lesser known
festivals is the Chicago Caribbean JerkFest at the
West Loop's Union
Park.
In addition to the local Caribbean
bands, there will be a Jerk Cook-off featuring both pro and amateur chefs. This is one not to miss. Click here
for more information.
LINCOLN SQUARE
Another favorite of ours is sweets. I mean who doesn't love a good old fashioned
ice cream cone or a slice of cake or chocolate. Well the Sweet
Collective in Lincoln
Square is definitely the place to be.
Of course, there is the Lincoln Square favorite of Café
Selmarie. Located in the heart
of the Lincoln Square
commercial center, this location has been around since 1983 and continues to be
a main part of the local community.
NAPERVILLE
I admit it, I like Apple.
Their products go a long way in creating cutting edge technology that
brings about positive changes not to mention no viruses.
Apple has now signed a deal in Naperville
to open a new store (similar to the one on Michigan Avenue) at Main and Jefferson streets.
