THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - FESTS, FEASTS & FIREWORKS -- THEY’RE BACK!

Sue MossIt may not be summertime yet according to the calendar, but here in Chicago we make our own rules.  That being said let the summertime neighborhood festivals, or "fests", with their food "feasts", and the City's "fireworks" begin!

The seventh annual Chicago Turkish Festival, which began on Thursday, will run today and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Loop at 50 W. Washington Street.  Click here for this fest's features.

The Lincoln Square neighborhood will be hosting their annual German fest known as Mayfest Chicago at Lincoln and Leland Avenues this weekend.  The official opening ceremony takes place this evening, Friday, at 8:00 p.m. with a traditional keg tapping and the crowning of this year's Mayfest queen.  Click here for times as well as the main stage entertainment lineup.

The East Village/Ukrainian Village neighborhood will be hosting the Do-Division Street Fest and Sidewalk Sale on Division Street between Ashland Avenue and Leavitt Street this Saturday and Sunday.  Food vendors, a designated family area, DJs, live music and more will fill a 10-block stretch in Wicker Park.  Click here for times and the live music lineup.

And let's not forget one of the most popular fests, now in its 25th year, the Belmont/Sheffield Music Festival.  Local, regional and national bands are featured at this Lakeview neighborhood fest at Sheffield and Belmont Avenues this Saturday and Sunday.  Click here for more information, times and the music lineup.

Beginning this Saturday at Navy Pier in the Streeterville neighborhood will be their Weekly Fireworks Show set to live music.  Click here for days and times.

Or, rather than watching the fireworks from Navy Pier, watch them during an hour long cruise on Lake Michigan with Shoreline Sightseeing Fireworks Cruise, adjacent to Navy Pier.  Click here for dates, times and prices.

I don't want to leave out my sports fans, but the only sports team in town this weekend are the Chicago Cubs, who will be hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers.  As for the Blackhawks, there's always next year!

Haven't I heard that somewhere else before?

Anyway, have an "F, F & F" weekend!!!
