THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - SUMMER KICKOFF WITH MEMORIAL DAY!
Sue MossWelcome to your "three-day" Memorial Day Weekend!  Well, for most of us anyway.

Don't have specific plans or invited to a cookout, as is the tradition?  Well, it's your lucky weekend here in Chicago.  So, let's not waste one minute of your precious time off.  Are you ready to have some fun and begin your summer kickoff?

Here's a sample of what's on the agenda for Saturday, May 23rd -

Chicago's Memorial Day Parade will kick-off at Noon on State Street from Wacker Drive to Van Buren Street in downtown Chicago.  You definitely don't want to miss one the largest parades in the country!

It's opening weekend for the Sixth Annual Randolph Street Market Festival at Randolph and Ada Streets for more than 200 dealers at this European-style fair.  Click here for more information such as times, price and transportation to and from Water Tower Place.

Then there's Memorial Day Weekend at Navy Pier in the Streeterville neighborhood.  The beer garden will be hosting live music throughout the weekend.  And don't forget, fireworks at 10:15 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 p.m. Sunday.  Click here for more information on their weekend festivities.

On to the "crawls" - Spring Pub Crawl at O'Shaughnessy's in the Ravenswood neighborhood.  This informal bar crawl runs from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and, Here Comes the Sun Pub Crawl at O'Malley's West in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.  This nine bar crawl runs from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Click on respective links for more information and list of participating bars.

Here's a sample of what's on the agenda for Sunday, May 24th -

Eighth Annual Bike the Drive.  This 15- or 30-mile non-competitive ride meets up at Columbus Drive and Jackson Boulevard at 5:30 a.m.  Click here for more information.

Memorial Day B&BQ at Bull & Bear in the River North neighborhood (431 N. Wells Street).  Chef Blonsky will be manning the grill all afternoon.  Free watermelon too!!  Click here for more information.

Memorial Day Pig Roast at Uncle Fatty's Rum Resort in the Lakeview neighborhood (2833 N. Sheffield Avenue).  All-you-can eat and live music provided as well.  Click here for more information.

Here's a sample of what's on the agenda for Monday, May 25th, unless you prefer to sleep the entire day -

WOOGMS 46th Annual Memorial Day Parade kicks-off at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Grove and Wellington Avenues in the Lakeview neighborhood.  Click here for more information.

Memorial Day at John Barleycorn in the Wrigleyville neighborhood (3524 N. Clark Street).  Take in the Cubs v. Pittsburgh Pirates game, then stick around for live music by the rock group The Blu-Print.  Click here for more information.

Whatever you decide to do this weekend, please take a moment to remember all of those who have served and continue to serve this great country of ours.  Because without them, we wouldn't have a three-day weekend!!!
