THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - LET’S GET THIS WEEKEND STARTED!

I don't know about anyone else, but it's been a long, long week! So, let's get this weekend started!!
Needless to say, Chicago is gearing up for the month's ahead; however, here's what's going on this weekend:
Had a little too much to eat on Mother's Day last weekend? Shed those extra calories this Saturday at the 16th Annual Workout in the Park at Butler Field in Grant Park. Jillian Michaels of "The Biggest Loser" will be hosting this event rain or shine. Click here for more details - reservations are required!
The 14th Annual Chicago Mayfest kicks off the festival season in the Lakeview neighborhood at Ashland and Barry Avenues. Plenty of food, beer and live music will be on hand -- even a pet parade at Noon on Sunday (registration at 11:00 a.m.). Click here for more information as well as the music lineup.
The Mayor's Office of Special Events will be hosting its annual Great Chicago Places & Spaces this Saturday at various locations throughout Chicago. The first tour sets off at 9:00 a.m. with the final tour departing at 3:45 p.m. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. at the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Click here for more information on this free event. FYI - the most popular tours sell out quickly, and I've been told that folks line up as early as 5:00 a.m.!
The Art Institute of Chicago will be hosting the long-awaited Modern Wing Grand Opening of the museum's $283 million addition this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Click here for a list of planned festivities.
Calling all Pugs and their humans, Joe's Bar located in the Old Town neighborhood is the place to be this Saturday for this year's Pug Dog Millionaire hosted by Pugmaster Ben Friedman. Click here for more details on this event being hosted by, none other than, PugParty. If I dress up my Pekingese and Shih Tzu as Pugs do you think they'll notice?
The Green Festival, which will feature 350 eco-friendly vendors, is being held at Navy Pier in the Streeterville neighborhood this weekend. Click here for more information.
The Chicago Botanic Garden located in Glencoe will be hosting the following free events this Saturday and Sunday: the Midwest Bonsai Society Spring Show and Sale and Growing Green Plant Sale. Also, running daily through September 7th, is the Model Railroad Garden: Landmarks of America, which is a 7,500 square foot outdoor model train exhibit of American landmarks, gardens and more. Nominal cost for this exhibit. Click here for more information on any one of these.
Finally, The American Cancer Society will be hosting their Walk & Roll Chicago this Sunday to raise funds for charity. Participate in a 5-mile walk or a 10-mile skate or a 15-mile bike ride along the lakefront. Click here for more details.
I can't think of a better way to wrap-up your weekend than doing something for someone else!! Now, where did I put my walking shoes, skates and bike?
