Sue MossThings are a little quiet this weekend here in Chicago while we recover from last weekend's St. Patrick's Day festivities.  However, if you're still green, I suggest you see a doctor!

Anyway, if you're a big fan of NCAA basketball then you'll definitely have something to do this weekend.  In fact, it continues next weekend as well.  That's right, it's March Madness!  If the economy has delayed your purchase of that brand new big screen HDTV for these special occasions, not to worry, you can watch the games at one of the following establishments -

The Spread will be hosting its Seventh Annual March Mania Party this Friday at 9:00 p.m. in the Sheffield/DePaul neighborhood at 2476 N. Lincoln Avenue.  They will have more than 20 screens to watch your favorite team.  Prizes will be raffled off with the proceeds benefiting Off The Street ClubClick here for more information and specials for the evening.

March Madness at the "Fifty/50" located at 2047 W. Division Street in the East Village/ Ukrainian Village neighborhood.  Watch your favorite team on one of 16 flat screens while taking advantage of their drink and food specials.  Click here for more information on their prize giveaways.

March Madness at "Stretch Run Sporting Club & Grille" located in the River North neighborhood at 544 N. LaSalle Street.  Their food and drink specials run through March 31st, and the games will be televised on 240 TVs!  Click here for their food and drink specials.

I haven't forgotten us ladies who happen to think that March Madness is a "super-sale" of some sort!  Well, I have come across two shopping events taking place this weekend, so all is not lost.

The Merchandise Mart Sample Sale takes place Saturday and Sunday in the River North neighborhood at the Merchandise Mart.  Save up to 75% on luxury home furnishings and accessories.  It's just $10 for a weekend pass!  Click here for times and more details.

Shop Chicago at Union Station (210 S. Canal Street) will feature over 40 designers and boutiques from Chicago and elsewhere in the country this Saturday only from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Click here for more details.

Finally -- this one is for ladies-only - Girls' Night:  Beauty from the Inside.  This Saturday at 7:00 p.m. learn how to make special dishes at this cooking class being offered by The Chopping Block in the Lincoln Square neighborhood at 4747 N. Lincoln Avenue.  Price is $40 and reservations are required.  Click here for those special dishes and to make your reservation.

By the way, if you weren't able to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, like yours truly here, John's Place in Roscoe Village (2132 W. Roscoe Street) or Lincoln Park (1200 W. Webster Avenue) is still serving up corned beef and cabbage dinners for $10 through March 31st.  I'm there!  I might even have seconds!!
