Early voting for Rahm Emanuel's seat in Congress started March 16th.  The early voting goes through April 2nd with the special election occurring on April 7th.

The current runners for this position are Democrat Mike Quigley, Republican Rosanno Pulido and Matthew Reichel from the Green Party.

The 5th Congressional District makes up most of the northwest side of Chicago running from the lakefront west to several suburbs including Schiller Park, Franklin Park and Melrose Park.

LINCOLN PARK

Okay, normally this is so not appropriate but this is such a pop culture moment, we at Dean's Team had to share it.

Announcing next month on April 18th, the Snuggie Pub Crawl.  You may have seen the late night commercials of the blanket with sleeves, known as the Snuggie.

The following Lincoln Park pubs will be part of the crawl - Apartment, Lions Head Pub, Barleycorn's, Kendall's, Kelsey's, Omalley's and Sterch's.  The Pub Crawl will benefit AC Orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania.

LOOP

I'm all for spring cleaning and change, but really?  First we had the name change of Marshall Field's to Macy's. Now we are going to have Sears Tower to Willis Tower.

Built in 1973, the Sears Tower has been an historical part of Chicago's skyline and is world renown.  This year the Sears Tower will get a new name.  It is going to be called Willis Tower after the new tenant Willis Group Holdings of London.

LINCOLN SQUARE

Lately, cooking at home for friends and family has become more commonplace.  Reconnecting has been such a great thing and the cost savings cannot be beat.  As part of hosting duties, having a wide array of beverages is a key element to my personal entertaining repertoire.

Not to be outdone by this trend, The Chopping Block, is hosting their first wine sample sale.  The sale is a tasting of all wines priced under $12.  The tasting is free and the wines affordable.

OAK PARK

Lake Theater in Oak Park is not feeling the crunch from the current economy.  In fact, Manager Doug Clayton said attendance is up about six percent.

As an affordable alternative for spending time out, the movie industry is seeing an increased trend in attendance which is up 16% over last year.
