KATHY'S HOME & GARDEN TIPS - SIMPLE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
Decorating at Christmas time
needn't be time consuming and can be easily artistic.
To create a simple
centerpiece, drape pine boughs in an oval shape. Intertwine a short string of
clear lights. Add mini red ornaments and pine cones.
Place a dozen
ornaments in a clear glass bowl. One color looks best, red, silver or gold.
Stick fresh
cranberries on a foam form. Craft stores have these forms. In the Chicago area Michaels is
a good one. There are so many items of use at these stores, garland, flocked
fruit, gold balls, evergreens, etc. Mix a bunch in a large vase.
Make your own
wreaths. Stretch out a hanger into a circle. Tie on evergreen branches using
floral wire. Tie on ornaments, pine cones and fake berries (all available at
the craft store).
Oranges studded with cloves make a great presentation, they
also smell good.
I love cotton
batting. It looks like snow in many variations. I put it under my nativity
scene. Lay down a string of lights first then fluff the batting over this. A
great effect.
I gather all my
floor plants together and string lights through them. In fact there are few
things in the house that don't have lights or garland around them.
Have
a wonderful Holiday!
