JEFF’S SPORTS BLOG – THE CHICAGO BEARS FACE A WEAK DETROIT LIONS TEAM

Jeff Ardito - Dean's Team Listing Specialist! The Chicago Bears vs. the Detroit Lions has been a classic rivalry for decades and the game is extremely important to the hopes of the Bears winning their division.

The Lions come in winless and have gone through a rough path to get where they are.   General Manager, Matt Millen, has been fired and the rumblings around the NFL indicate that head coach Rod Marinelli's job might be in jeopardy.

The Bears however have surpassed the predictions especially on the offensive side of the ball.  QB, Kyle Orton, has led the Chicago attack playing at a Pro-Bowl level and demonstrating that the Bears can put up numbers with the best of teams.

The Chicago defense has been lackluster and has raised quite a few questions about the efficiency of the team and the defensive schemes they put into place.

Nevertheless, the Bears have demonstrated they can compete for the NFC North Division, and thus by winning it, enter the playoffs.

Undoubtedly, the Packers and Vikings will have a lot to say about which team wins the division but the Bears are in the driver seat.

If the Bears win this game and the variables would point to that outcome, the Bears would continue leading the division possibly alone after the Packers have to go into Tennessee and face the undefeated Titans.

The Vikings are at home facing a tough Houston Texans team.  So, the Bears need to take care of business to solidify their position in their division.

Go Bears!
