THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - AN “ART FULL” WEEKEND

Sue Moss - General Manager, Manager of Unbeatable Service for Dean's Team CHICAGO!Calling all Arts and Culture enthusiasts -- this is your weekend!  In conjunction with Chicago Artists' Month, there are a variety of art performances and events taking place in a variety of locations throughout Chicago.  These events will feature music, painting, photography, poetry, dance, comedy, improv and much more by emerging and established artists both locally and living elsewhere.

Shall we get started?

Andersonville Arts Weekend located at 5300 N. Clark Street.  For maps and performance schedules, stop by their information booth at Clark and Berwyn.  The visual art displays are free; however, performance prices vary.  The Swedish American Museum will host a kick-off party Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. so you can meet some of the participating artists.  Click here for more detailed information.

ArtWalk Ravenswood located at 4400 N. Ravenswood Avenue.  This is their seventh annual celebration, which includes a free trolley between venues in this Northside neighborhood.  Click here for more details.

Chicago Calling Arts Festival located in various locations throughout Chicago.  This is their third annual festival featuring a multi-venue of performances at Café Mestizo, 32nd & Urban, Velvet Lounge and others.  This festival actually runs through October 12thClick here for more information.

Douglas Park Art Fair located at 1401 S. Sacramento Drive at the Douglas Park Cultural and Community Center.  This is their fourth annual fair, which will take place on Saturday, October 4th, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  There will be an artists' reception from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Click here for more details.

Fulton Arts Walk located in the West Loop along Fulton Market and Lake Street between Desplaines and Ashland.  Partake in self-guided tours of the galleries and artists' studios as well as gallery talks, panel discussions, demonstrations and more.  Click here for a complete list of participating galleries.

Finally, the 11th Annual Chicago Art Open located in the Merchandise Mart.  Click here for more details.  And while you're there, why not stop by the International Antiques Fair.  Admission is $15 to browse over 100 vendors who partake in this semi-annual event.  Click here for more.

As a side note, I would also like to mention that this Sunday, October 5th, is the 14th Annual Chicago Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer that "yours truly" will be participating in with her Team "Hardy's Heroes For Hope".  This year's Walk is being held at Gallery Park at the Glen in Glenview.  There's a 5K and a 1-Mile Leisure Walk.  Great fun is had by all, rain or shine, for this great cause.  It's not too late if you wish to participate or even make a donation.  Just click here.

Or, the Pretty in Pink Fundraiser, which honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month, offers manicures, massages and other beauty treatments for $31 at various participating local spas.  Click here for the list.

I hope your first weekend in October will be an eventful one.  If not, I would love to know why!
