Sue Moss - General Manager, Manager of Unbeatable Service for Dean's Team CHICAGO!Now that Labor Day is behind us and the kids have gone back to school, summer is supposedly "unofficially" over even though autumn doesn't officially begin until September 22nd.  However, I believe we still have some great summer weather ahead of us yet and should take full advantage of any outdoor festivities while the going is good.  After all, our winters here in Chicago are notorious for being way too long and cold!!

This weekend in Chicago will bring back the sunshine here and there after the remnants of Gustav move out of the area, so why not partake in one of the following outdoor activities.  Get your fill of Vitamin D while you can!

The 88th Annual German-American Festival starts today in the Lincoln Square neighborhood (4700 N. Lincoln Avenue).  Of course, it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, this fest features "traditional" German foods, wine and beer, along with live music and much more.  And, don't forget the 43rd Annual Von Steuben Parade will kick-off on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.  This parade will proceed along Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park and Lawrence Avenue.  Click here for more details.

Some other festivals this weekend are -

Windy City Wine Festival at the Daley Bicentennial Plaza, September 5-September 6.  For additional information see here.

Guinness Oyster Festival in Roscoe Village at Damen and Roscoe, September 6.  For additional information click here.

Ukrainian Village Fest in the heart of none other than the Ukrainian Village (2245 W. Superior Street), September 5-September 7.  For additional information click here.

Another relaxing and very entertaining outdoor activity, which seems to have gone unmentioned by me this summer for some reason, is Ravinia Festival, located in Highland Park at 200-231 Ravinia Park Road.  This Saturday at 7:30 p.m. the rock band American English will be playing many of the Beatles hits.  I have seen this band perform at Beatles Fest, which is usually the second week of August at the O'Hare Hyatt, and was very impressed by their performance, Not to mention the fact that they look and sound just like the Beatles.  Tickets range from $15 for lawn seats -- bring your own chair or blanket and picnic basket chock full of good food and drink - to $45 for pavilion reserved seats.  Click here for more information and remaining schedule of performances for this year.

Finally, if you prefer to fill up your belly instead, the patio scene here in Chicago has opened 10 new patios so you can continue your season in the sun.  And, they are - Aberdeen, C-View, Debonair Social Club, Eno, Fat Cat, Minibar / Winebar, O'Shaughnessy's Public House, Relax Lounge, The Orbit Room and Vince on Clark.  Click here for more information on each of these establishments.

No matter what you choose to do this weekend, get outdoors and enjoy Chicago's beautiful weather while it lasts.  Who knows if we'll ever get another summer as mild as this one!

Do you want to take the chance of passing up this opportunity?
