This year's summer series was designed for the busy schedules of Loop and Michigan Avenue area employees, and continues with a concert of favorites from Gabrieli, Gershwin and Andre Previn, performed by the CINCO brass quintet.

ROGERS PARK

Randy Warren, a serious cyclist, had to search high and low for Midwest bike races, and would partake in events in Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana.

This summer, the Rogers Park resident has found an abundance of competitions closer to home.  He's rarely had to leave Illinois, and/or the Chicago region.

"There's been more races in Chicagoland this year and even last year than there ever have been," said Warren, an employee for the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation. "I'm traveling less because there are more options and opportunities here."

NORWOOD PARK

Knowing history paid off this year for Taft High School's Know Your Heritage Team.  They are the winners of the city competition, and they earned a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The annual competition was designed to promote understanding and appreciation of mixed cultures and allowed students to be able to compete in a game show format.

Taft's team, captained by graduating senior Xuyu Xiang.  Other team members included Lilly Atamanah, Juliette Pirpiris, Elizabeth Scray and Angelika Wardach.  They won the championship by a single point.  The show aired May 25th on WCIU, Channel 26 .

OAK PARK

Oak Park, looks better as times passes.  However it is still home to ghosts.

The most prominent, of course, is that of Frank Lloyd Wright, the world famous architect. It was his ghost, and that of his partner, Mamah Borthwick Cheney, that so haunted Oak Parker Nancy Horan that she was compelled to write about their life in the form of a novel. The best-selling "Loving Frank" is now out in paperback.

You can easily get a Wright fix there, or you too can take one of many tours that showcase his work in the suburb.
