Jennifer Garrity - Dean's Team Customer Service CoordinatorLINCOLN PARK

Jewel Food Stores and Osco Drug Pharmacy are planning to open a 16,000-square-foot concept store that will be named Urban Fresh, by Jewel in Lincoln Park next season.  Urban Fresh will be located at 1910 N. Clybourn Avenue, which was previously the site of the Sunflower organic market.

It will market to rushed commuters and business people with ready-to-go meals, produce, organic foods, fresh meats, seafood, and wines and spirits, according to Miguel Alba who is the director of public affairs for Jewel-Osco's Midwest division.  Jewel-Osco is owned by Supervalu, which also operated Sunflower.

They hope to open Urban Fresh in September but the date is still pending.   Click here to find out more.

In search of the ultimate smoothie and beyond syrups passed off as fruit, there are only so many unoriginal blends of strawberries and bananas with yogurt or ice cream to tickle our taste buds.  Four years ago, Lenice Levy and her husband opened this Jamaican favorite in Rogers Park, Good to Go. Together they returned the smoothie to its original roots.  The food is more than solid, but the smoothies are legion-26 varieties.  A majority take honey as a sweetener.  The rest use in-house squeezed apples.

As usual, with extreme hot weather comes extreme summer cocktails-some designed for sharing, others created to outdo any other adult beverage that you've ever tasted!   Spotted were all types of delicious drinks.

If you like to try new drinks, head on over to the Kirkwood Bar & Grill in Lakeview, located at 2934 N. Sheffield Avenue.  Ask for a $25 Fishbowl.  You'll want to share it (usually two to six people share) because it's so incredibly large.  It comes in red, blue, green and purple colors and flavors (that's Bacardi Razz and Hawaiian Punch, blue raspberry vodka and Hi-C, Malibu rum and Green Berry Rush, and 3 Olives Grape Vodka mixed with grape drink).

Work may soon begin this winter on a new Norwood Park Senior Satellite Center at Norwood Park Field House.

Brian Doherty, Alderman of the 41st Ward, said, "We have been working on this for a long time."

The satellite center, will be one of 10 citywide centers originally announced in 2000.  It will be constructed as an extension of the existing Norwood Park field house at the park, 5801 N. Natoma Avenue.  The plan calls for adding the 7,044 square-foot facility onto the far south end of the building.    Click here for complete details.

Need a summer pick me up?  Hot or cold, a jolt of java will surely hit the spot.  If you have had it with those nasty cardboard cups and leaky pots, consider this sleek and compact solution.  It's a perfect fit for outdoor events.  The real spoons, tightly-sealed containers for milk/cocoa/sugar along with cloth napkins add a touch of class.

To buy one ($35) entails a visit to the new and charming Eastgate Gift Shop and Cafe, 102 Harrison St., Oak Park, compared to the same item sold for $38 at  What a deal.   Click here for some more refreshing summer ideas.
